With all this positive speculation, we sure are going to be disappointed if we don't get at least one of the two.

Will be hard to keep the freshman happy if we get both unless Vawter is ok cutting back her innings substantially. She has thrown 190+ innings in her last 3 years (200, 227 and 190) and Maxwell has thrown 187 and 142 the last 2 years. You are looking at a team total of 360 to 380 total season innings and those 2 threw 332 combined last season. That would leave 30 innings for the freshmen to split…..

Those freshmen... assuming they're healthy will have more than 30 innings to split I would feel very safe betting on it. Think they would be pitching the midweek and splitting the middle SEC game. Then as they got better and better maybe more. Barnhill had 108 ip her Freshmen year behind 2 AA's. See this being similar except then splitting those 100 innings IF both come. Either way these girls seem 100% locked in to Florida and truly care about the program.

If we get both of them I think their inning will only be part of the reason they're coming. I think they'll see what Tim has put together for '24.. this is a really talented bunch, at the plate and in the circle. It's talented enough to compete with OU, also the plate and in the circle. If they come our pitching may even be better than OU's. I think part of them joining if they do will be to beat the Sooners. Gators are the best opportunity to dethrone OU ( in my biased opinion).

Not even sure that's a biased opinion at this point if it does happen.

The academics are a factor as well, I would think, especially for Vawter. She wants a Master's in a specific field of Engineering and UF has one of the best Engineering grad programs in the country.

The only way the freshman get that many innings is if Vawter and Maxwell cut their innings by 30 to 40%. Not saying it cannot happen but it sure is something to keep an eye on.

Vawter amd maxwell have thrown the amount of innings they have because they have been workhorses for their programs. Not saying they won't still have a lot of innings here if they come because they will. But walton is not going to sit those freshmen.

wter and Maxwell what is your guess the number of innings the freshman will throw?

I'd say 100 combined. Depending on whether someone's performing well or not. One thing to remember with maxwell, and vawter to an extent, but more so maxwell... a lot of teams have seen her. Not the majority they we play but something to keep in mind.

Ok we are not too far off from what I see as well. If the freshmen play a lot out in the field then I think you could keep them happy with 50 innings each on the mound their freshman year.

if they get upset because the older pitchers, if they come, gives them a better chance of winning what does that say about them, unpopular as this seems, the bottom line is always winning, not placating people, imo.

Lol….the very top players in the country NEVER sat on the bench previously…..I get where you are coming from but many times it is a lot more complicated than that.

Pretty sure Kern is headed to Stanford but not announced yet. Those have been the strongest rumors and late last night she posted on twitter "year two loading" followed by two hearts....one red and one white.

If they're good enough, Walton will find a role for the freshmen pitchers, whether it be as relievers or closers.

Yes, I'm sure they'll want to play and contribute, but it's not exactly like men's sports where there's a sense of urgency to show off your skills for pro scouts. As long as they're happy at Florida and are contributing in some way, I'm sure these young ladies won't mind waiting a year or two for their turn.
