Should we make solid state battery technology and its impact on the transportation industry a separate thread?

How does this solve the deficit? SS is already running in deficit.

Are you talking about the yearly deficit for SS, or the general national deficit? If the SS only, I guess we would have to see if a deficit actually exists after the fund is replenished and starts drawing interest. If deficit exists then increase SS tax on employers and employees to match deficit. Simple. Any more questions?

If so, he/she will be well compensated in bonuses, stock options, etc. Conversely, if that same ceo goes in reverse the next year, he won't be giving back any bonuses. He may even walk away with a sweet golden parachute.

I don’t give a shit what you believe. There are two lines you can follow.

    1. Unions improve the working situation and compensation of labor bodies.

    2. They operate imperfectly just like any organization.

I don’t see you lining up to end all corporations just because of Enron or Worldcom. You haven’t made a logical argument in this whole line of debate but now that I see you had a bad experience with a union I understand: Your feelz.

I have read them, but I fear many investors and hedge funds have not. If you care at all about humanity, you must warn them at once about Tesla's impending doom.

While the practice is fairly common it's also a form of an inverse incentive. While no one would intentionally run a company into the ground a golden parachute is essentially an award for incompetence.

Unions are leeches on workers and businesses and serve no real purpose…other than to leech. I didn’t say I had a bad experience with a union, I said I was in the inner circle of a union and watched how it operated and interacted with member, businesses and other unions. I thought they were the sleaziest, until I worked for insurance companies…then I got a rude awakening. I agree unions may possibly improve some worker’s lives, but the negatives far far far outweigh the positives.

right now social security spends more than it takes in. That will get worse over the next 10 years. There is in theory still a balance in the trust fund, but the trust fund is full of ious from then general fund, which is part of the trillions of national debt.

Well, paying back the IOUs, and replenishing the funds to its intended balance will solve a large part of the problem. At that point, somebody that’s really good in math needs to step in and determine what the annual taxes should be so Social Security remains fiscally neutral. The political hurdle, obviously, is the taking of charity funds directed to 3rd Party foreigners and applying them instead to our own citizens. For some unknown reason that gets push back from the morons in DC.

Many companies have touted Solid state battery tech, none have really got it to do what “they” say it can do. QuantumScape has been saying similar things for a few years and it still looks like it’s many years away if at all.

Since Tesla seems to be a leader in battery tech I wouldn’t bet on them going away anytime soon.

I’d wait a bit before jumping in based on a press release really.
