Screen Actors Guild joins writers on strike

THey'll get bashed for being radical libbie commie scum until the bashers are stuck with nothing but re runs for months on end. Besides they are in CA, so bash them for that too.

 

So the result of the strike is me watching even less television? I didn’t think that was possible.

 

Interestingly the last time both SAG and the Writers Guild went on strike at the same time was in 1960 when the actors' union was headed by Ronald Reagan who later went on to become one of the most anti-union presidents in history.

I remember reading two or three years ago that a strict anti-abortion law (I think that's what it was) passed in Georgia would kill the movie production industry there, out of outrage I guess. Didn't happen, eh? In fact just a couple of days ago I read where Jamie Foxx, when he fell so ill recently with an undisclosed ailment, was filming in Atlanta at the time.

 

Will give me an excuse to watch even more crap shows since nothing new will be coming out

 

I won't miss any sitcoms because I haven't watched one in years. I quit watching them because they weren't funny. If they were funny they wouldn't use laugh tracks to tell you when you're supposed to laugh. I do remember one sitcom a few years ago that I tried and found it to be funny. I knew right away it should be funny because there was no canned laughter. Sure enough, I knew exactly when to laugh all on my own. I can't even remember now the name of the series, but it was about a guy who was always trying to make amends about things. The series didn't last long, I guess because it was funny, or because sitcom fans were offended by there being no laugh track.

 

Yeah, that's it. It was good while it lasted.

 

Why don’t dramas have cry tracks to let you know when a scene is sad? Maybe when there is a plot twist you could also hear someone say “wow, I didn’t see that coming!”.

 

And another thing! I enjoyed the Carol Burnett Show, it had some funny stuff. But did anyone really buy Harvey Korman being unable to control himself and cracking up all the time at things that Tim Conway did or said when they were in skits together? That was a staged routine or my name is Earl.

 

I've sometimes thought that the laugh track included laughter from cast members. Seinfeld comes to mind, as well as That 70's Show.

 

Kemp isn’t that moderate at all. He’s just mature enough to quietly go about his business and get things done for his party without acting butthurt every day and in search of a vendetta every time someone disagrees with him.

 

We've been bingeing "Frasier," and "30 Rock," both very funny, IMO.
