It could be explained to you (what heat is) if you can feel it. But the source of the heat to a blind person would be impossible to prove. A blind person cant really have light explained.

A blind person not being able to understand and see light, does not make light non existent.

there are things I haven’t experienced that I understand. Not being able to see visible light does not mean a blind person can not understand it. There are lots of things that I have never experienced that I understand. I understand the concept of being wrong even though I have never been wrong before.;)

Your wife would probably beg to differ on the last part. ;)

Think about it though. How would you explain light to someone with no eyes.

    You simply can't.
Imagine explaining taste to someone with no tongue. Sound to soneone born without ears.

It isnt possible for them to comprehend.

But sound, light and flavor still exist.

    This is just nonsense.

Vibrations are possible to detect without ears.

Taste is mainly a function of smell.

Faith is not possible to explain with logic.

    Quitter.

(Meanwhile, you think Russia getting its ass served sunny side up by its little sister is Ali doing rope a dope).

FYI, we fought for 50 years to get Roe v Wade overturned. The damage Roe reeked on morality n culture was never going to be reversed on a dime.

    Give it time.

Yet you can't deduce that the very intelligence you whine with, is fruit of intelligence, instead subscribing to the funniest fairy tale ever--that the sophistication of life, including its constant progression to greater complexity, came about accidentally...and continues to progress, ever more complex, by accident...

Translation: doc IS a believer. Just a spoilt kid of a believer, who prays by whining and bitching as a toddler cries for attention. Ditto @danmanne65.

If they didn't believe, they wouldn't protest as passionately as they do.

So pray for em... they're reaching out...may God touch their hearts and tap into their latent, frustrated faith...

I agree that faith in a transcendent Godhead cannot be proven as the end result of an equation that can be discerned by man. That would be a contradiction in terms. But there are greater things in Heaven and on Earth than our dreamed of by your philosophies. And that's not a biblical quotation but a paraphrase of a certain bard, writing of the truths of the human heart that defy logical contour

If gods fake, at least there’s an explanation for his donothingness. If he’s real, what a lazy ass…maybe if he gives a shit he can get some tips from the folks who sell extended car warranties.

Dan Mullen was held to exponentially higher bar & football’s just a game.

Spoken from not Just high atop the animal kingdom, but high atop humanity, with some 95% of all humanity in history, surely not having things as well as you have it.

You act like God should be grateful for you.

    ps-- Keep reaching...

But may I humbly suggest taking inventory of what you've been blessed with, rather than looking to the heavens and complaining about how ungodly you think you are...

My understanding is Christianity teaches human free will is the work of Satan. That we are to do God's will, not our own. I think there is very possibly a higher power, but the higher power is a non-interventionist who is allowing humans to figure it out on their own. That's why I feel very strongly about us being honest with one another. A higher power isn't necessarily going to step in and save us.

if I had 10 kids & 7 of em died as kids, no one would say wow what a successful, loving father. Sorry you “everyone gets a trophy” folks think this is a defensible outcome

Doc, as an atheist, I’m not sure what you are trying to accomplish here. I grew up in the church, not really believing but not terribly sure. Later in life I became more hostile to religion. After a while it dawned on me as a non believer, I don’t have to worry about this. If I am comfortable in my lack of belief then I shouldn’t be carrying the animosity - the animosity that comes from a lingering form of brainwashing that can be associated with some religions.

So overall I am mostly indifferent to peoples faiths - it serves some good and has some bad. Really depends on the faith. I will say I have soured a bit on many of faith as somehow they’ve drawn in political idiocy into their realm of beliefs. I do get more obstinate towards those of faith when they want to legislate their faith based values on me.

Hmm. So Shakespeare has a better explanation of a god then the Bible does?
