I think you also see kids leaving FL instead of playing for the big 3 because they didn't grow up in FL. The state is brining people in from all over the country at a pretty high rate, those people don't have the ties to one of the big 3 like you had 20 years ago.
That does seem to be the case. Also, reading between the lines, there seems to be a perception that Florida HS kids are a bit more problematic with NIL monies as compared to the rest of the country. Of course that just may be an inaccurate perception, I have no proof of that of course, just what recruiting analysts say.
Maybe that's the case, idk why FL kids would be more problematic? Unless it's something to do with how the state laws are written and business that's handled around that? I'm not even remotely aware of the rules or laws, just heard some other discuss it here.
I have no proof other than Florida is such a recruiting hot bed and so much emphasis is placed by schools to recruit the state. I suspect, much like the "pretty girls" in class - maybe they play a little harder to "get". While I am VERY HAPPY with CBN's class so far, it is a bit surprising that so few of our committs are Florida kids this cycle. I think the remaining board has more In-State studs left on it, hopefully the Gators close strong and keep this high ranking.
We have all heard these rumors for years. Has anyone every done this analysis in a spreadsheet? I guess it would show Players and their beginning ranking and rank changes and end ranking. I bet the upgrades are happening prior to commit but when crystal balls appear to hide the bias. I assume there must be something to this as so many people mention. Hell even Spurrier alluded to this issue when he was coach. Something like “how is it on recruiting day they have best players but when we play we have the best”. Back to my question. If this is true then we should divide up the work and get this data in a spreadsheet and then make it public to get rid of this bias. Thoughts?
https://247sports.com/PlayerSport/Kobe-Prentice-at-Calera-270248/RecruitRankHistory/?history=top247 Oh there's truth to it but truth be told, it happens with every program but some programs (Bama and UGA) commits get HUGE rankings boost. I think part of it is the "if UGA/Bama wants this kids and he commits there, he MUST be good" so they go back and really review the kids film and adjust the rankings according to such. For example, Kobe Printice was committed to Maryland and then decommitted in the middle of July 2021 (Bama offered earlier in the month). When Bama offered him he was ranked 1181 in the nation, when he decommitted from Maryland and flipped to Bama, his ranking shot up to 327 in the nation and after his senior year in the final rankings he was ranked 89th. Like how bro?!?!?!
Sure, put the work in lol. I see individual examples of it pointed out all the time on Twitter, the last ray being bowens. Another example of it being one of the RBs they took last class.
check my post above yours for an example. And it's not to rip the KID himself, we're referring to the system as being biased AT TIMES (not ALL the time)
I grew up in pcola in tge 70’s and 80’s. You were either a gator or a clown with a few bamers mixed it. Now we have lsu, auburn, osu, Miami…. All kinds of weirdos from who knows where. They aren’t from here but they are here now. My oldest son did a year in hs in North Georgia, Union county 15 years ago. Gator shit did not fly at all up there. Fisticuffs were an option.
Good story. Remember when people settled disagreements by fighting with their fists or in competition? What is with these guns now? Was listening to a story the other day how two jet ski groups were arguing and starting shooting at each other. A little boy with grandfather was shot in head and died in crossfire. Why?
Bama isn't in his top 3 last I seen, I was kinda surprised by that myself. Of course we know with Bama that doesn't mean he won't still end up there. His last "top 3" listed was UF, Tenn, UGA. But Texas is making noise and of course Bama is Bama and the hometown school.
UF's ranking is moving in on the bucknuts. Flip the 5-star WR from Hollywood, Florida and UF would likely move up to #2 behind the poodles. The Gators could use a 5-star WR..... Jeremiah Smith, Chaminade-Madonna Prep, Wide Receiver (247sports.com) Smith can win national championships in football and track with UF.
I think it's Corey Raymond time to remind folks of who he is as well. Haven't gotten a DB commit in a while so I bet he's about to start flexing his muscle. Having a top 5 class when you're best recruiter hasn't gotten started yet is a great place to be
There it is for all to see. No idea why, but those guys don’t like us — and obviously who the media likes and dislikes is basically the basis for anything they publish. Objectivity disappeared decades ago, and now who even gives a shit about the truth?
