Our own Florida Gators. So Year 2 could end Napier's tenure? Are we at that point in college football where a new coach has to turn things around in 2 years?
Barring an 0-10-1 kinda season, I believe he will get to year 3. His buyout is a lot. Perhaps its pie in the sky, but I don't believe any coach should have less than 3 years to show what he is about (barring no off the field hijinks).
The suggestion that year two could end Napier's tenure is foolish. Did Phil Steele actually write that, or does he have an intern contributing some of the narrative?
No..he is the head coach at the start of '25...we are told to expect the turnaround in that season. '23 and '24 will be tough years...6 wins feels like a stretch for this season.
To me the only year where a coach is completely safe is Year 1. But Year 2, coaches should have a lot of rope. Barring a complete meltdown of historic proportions, he’ll be here in Year 3.
Any school that fires their coach after two years and he didn’t pull a mass murder should have their sports program taken away.
If there's a credit card fraud ring, he goes 0-12, and he fabricates death threats... he gone. But that's not happening.
All tough years in the future with OU and UT joining the conference and all the offenses getting better
Exactly. And the stupidity is only going to get worse. College football fans are completely delusional. The SEC faithful will soon need to acknowledge multiple losses for the top teams as the norm. Y'all realize Bama pitched a fit when they saw the Vols, LSU and Auburn as their permanent 3, correct? Now that the Vols once again look good, *Bama* won't be Bama any longer. Things are about to get even more brutal inside an already brutal conference. Napier gets AT LEAST 4 years to make his mark.
For all tge sec and that’s great. Nobody wants to watch blowouts unless it’s against a power five rival, then it’s awesome.
The turnaround will begin in '24 with Lagway. Six wins is not a stretch this year if Mertz is even mildly serviceable.
I think we hope we have a better option, but, with the current qb room, it isn’t out of the question.
