The Bidens' unforgivable hypocrisy

I too am paywalled and am embarrassed to admit I am catching up with the facts. Here is some more from a straightforward story that may or may not be in the NYT.

Years of legal wrangling ended abruptly this week when Lunden Roberts, 32, agreed to slash Hunter's $20,000 monthly payments and drop her petition to have Navy Joan's last name changed to Biden. Sources say the stunning reversal comes after Hunter told Roberts in private talks that he wanted to end hostilities and 'build a relationship' with the adorable four-year-old. The pact also paves the way for Navy Joan to eventually meet the rest of the Biden brood - including President Joe and First Lady Jill - for the first time.​

 

It is that simple. If my wife wanted me to disown a little 4 year old girl I had previous to our marriage, she’d be in the “stbx” category in a New York minute. But of course, I would have figured all that out long before the wedding and booted her a long time before the “m” word ever came into the convo.

 

Some more facts. The issue of how the President should handle this is one issue, but these pieces cover the support dispute HB was seeking a reduction from 20K monthly hue to reduced income, which is common and likely legally justified. The mom's attorneys were conservative activists with other agendas they were using the proceedings for.

There is nothing I have read anywhere about what the mother even thought was best for her daughter in terms of relationship. It stands to reason that she would benefit from some relationship, but that will be hard to handle logistically given his unsought celebrity and the fact that so many others may be involved that are interested for other than the child's best interests.

I am honestly at a loss for how the President should address this publicly, if at all. Though I am paywalled, I know I never trust the judgment on such matters of Maureen Dowd, an especially toxic media presence.

Meh... family relationships are tough. I never held it over Donald Trump that his relationships included a lot of drama, affairs and divorce - stuff is complicated. I know others who dont like him or his politics did hold it against him but I think its BS in both cases. My personal opinion is that you cant possibly understand the family dynamics unless you are in it and even then sometimes it doesnt make sense. Same goes with MTG and Kamahla's passed relationships where they get painted as whores. Total BS.

 

Hold up. I am talking about Joe. His acknowledgement is complicated if his son’s wife limits access to her children. You seemed to have switched to Hunter’s choice. Totally different issues.

Words are cheap and easy.
I’ll give credit to Hunter and Joe when their actions back those words up. Joe has known about Navy Joan for 4 years. He has gone out of his way to exclude her when speaking publicly. When that changes, when Navy Joan is included as a grandchild, when Hunter ACTS like a mature man and accepts his responsibilities
Then I’ll give them credit.

 

Lol. Are you serious? “Hey honey, this stripper I banged in Vegas had my child, sorry I didn’t tell you… they are going to be staying in our house every thanksgiving and Christmas from now on” is not something most wives are going to take well. Or… at all. There is no world where that happens.

This is why prominent men pay off such women and have them get an abortion. Hunter, being a junky and an idiot, wasn’t smart enough to take care of it immediately (assuming the woman even informed him immediately). Not saying this woman necessarily was a gold-digger (can’t read her mind), but all the hallmarks are there so call me skeptical.

 

Joe will make up for it during his second term

 

Who said the stripper has to stay at your house? That’s the part that never happens. What does happen is the new wife accepts that you have a child. That’s actually normal.

 

Anyone who hasn't been living under a rock knows full well biden's being a dick about this. Come on man, up!

 

I wouldn’t say it’s abnormal, but circumstances obviously come into play with how “cordial” such a relationship can be. Like… a financially struggling family is obviously going to lament child support and alimony payments going out (which is why only ~50% of such payments are paid in full and on time).

I’d say a “one night stand” type of deal or a stripper would have to be the most challenging for “new wife” to accept. Grandparents are more likely to be accepting, but are also likely to follow the lead of their son (i.e. if Hunter forms a relationship, Grandpa Joe will… if not… then probably not… and that’s the way it would be with most families imo). That was my original point.

It doesn’t help this women’s case that she basically hired conservative activist lawyers and intentionally keeps her daughter in the news. Seems to me like she sees her daughter as a moneymaking prop and this desire for a “relationship” may not be legitimate, otherwise it would be handled differently (jimho). Obviously Hunter handled it horribly on his side as well. Of course, it takes 2 to tango in such a sordid relationship in the first place.

 

Joe sucks ass. I’m only voting for him again if Trump is the GOP nominee. I’d vote for Bobby Bowden before I’d vote for Trump.
