We’ve got 16 on roster and not likely to carry many more. They aren’t seniors for the most part either. We can’t take them unless they are good enough to take a scholly from an existing player.
Sometimes I wonder if the staff's strategy with o-line and rb's is to of course try for the best but not overspend because they have done so well at those positions with lower ranked recruits through development. Save more money to allocate elsewhere
Great point Wanne. It would be interesting (VERY INTERESTING) to understand how NIL allocations by UF are actually prioritized. One point I fail to reconcile is how the actual "final numbers" are negotiated. Of course the powers that be want to keep us ignorant and don't want to reveal that kind of information. I am in sales, and our contracts often exceed 1 million dollars. The one point I just don't understand is how the "numbers" are determined and approved or not approved between UF's NIL folks and the staff. We are led to believe that the "staff" does not participate in that. What a crock of B.S.!!!! I understand all programs make the same claim. No way I believe that. No way. The rules are still very ill defined in my opinion. The automatic default position is "we don't do that part". Yeah.......Sure, and Anna Nicole married for love.
same. not only not much interest on UF's side, but none from UM and FSU either nor UGA. Strange recruitment for sure
I didn't know that about FSU, Miami and UGA. I don't get it ... I saw this gigantic man running track and he was movin! I figured he'd be a top OL target for everyone in the southeast. I guess this is one of those players that we just need to "trust the coaches". ALL of the coaches.
If we were ruthless there are a couple who could find another place to play and would mean nothing to us in results on the field this year or next to be able to add 2 more portals if there had been additional real opportunities in the portal at OL. Regardless it looks like we did well this year.
We will send some packing if we have the check to buy their replacements. We haven’t gone down that road on the line it doesn’t seem. I like the guys we have committed but we haven’t been in the elite signing of left tackles. I doubt we push out many guys in their third year for 3* true freshman unless they have obviously not developed. The guys on the roster will be fighting to stay on the 24 roster for sure. Guys that will be juniors in 24 and 25 will either play meaningful snaps or be ushered toward the portal.
He appeared to be interested in UF in the very beginning. Didn't his brother have a good experience at UF?
