So with his campaign at best stalling and at worst tanking, what does DeSantis do? 1. Soften up the vindictiveness and appear as a more reasonable and sane alternative to Trump? 2. Kick it up a notch against gays, blacks and immigrants while photoshopping his face on a whole bunch of Tom Cruise action photos? 3. Hope that Trump finally implodes through his own actions or the courts? Though it seems clear there's nothing that Trump can do to hurt his support. DeSantis is only 44. Is he basically just laying the groundwork for campaigns in 2028, 32, and so on?
He could probably win a Senate seat. There's no way someone as odd and unable to relate to other humans could ever survive the heat of a presidential race.
Can’t recall where we discussed before, but DeSantis is exceptionally well funded, pulling in $130 million from a super PAC, which suggest some undisclosed private funding. Not sure the press gets it. Trump literally has a cult following. Just about the only way desantis wins is trump backs out because of health. Trump wins repub nomination even if he’s a convicted felon. A cult.

While campaign funds are always helpful the ability of a candidate to raise cash early in the election cycle is not always determinative of whether that candidate wins the party's nomination. Anyone remember President Gramm or even Republican nominee Gramm? Neither do I. https://www.spokesman.com/stories/1995/apr/19/phil-gramm-leads-republican-pack-in-fund-raising/ Or much more recently, the fund raising of another Floridian twice elected governor. A big part of that was transferred from his state PAC that he has been building with the aid of the treasury. Don't want your project line item vetoed, consider contributing to my PAC. And many feel that the transfer violates campaign finance laws https://floridaphoenix.com/blog/sec...nsfer-of-state-pac-cash-to-federal-super-pac/ A second organization has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) regarding Ron DeSantis’ recent transfer of $82.5 million from his state political action committee to the federal super PAC backing his presidential campaign. The group alleges that the transfer of money collected for a state campaign and then moved to a federal campaign violates federal election laws. The complaint (which can be read here) from the group End Citizens United (ECU) comes weeks after the Campaign Legal Center filed a similar complaint with the FEC. “Ron DeSantis’s transfer of these funds is a flagrant and egregious violation of federal law. These rules are designed to safeguard against undue influence over elected officials and outright corruption,” said ECU President Tiffany Muller in a statement.

That is why DeSantis is in a holding pattern. Just wandering around tossing out red meat to the base so that if Trump backs out, he can be the chosen one. He picked the Trump lane hoping Trump wouldn't be in it, but he is, so now DeSantis is stuck.
I wasn't sure how much had been transferred, whether it was part of the 30 million or part of the 150 million dollars. But either way, I think it suggests strongly that he has an undisclosed group of individuals that have invested in him and effectively own him
If Trump is somehow eliminated, it won't matter what DeSantis does. The Republican collective will suddenly contract a bad case of amnesia and will be all-in on little Ronny. 44 will be a big part of their battle cry.
Bingo. DeSantis and Trump's other GOP opponents are counting on Trump being eliminated by his legal problems. DeSantis' problems in the GOP primaries are because Trump is the front runner. If Trump is gone, DeSantis polls as the front runner.
