Softball Transfer Portal

She only had 21 at bats last year but had an average of 333. Her conference BA was 385 going 5 for 13. She did strike out 8 times. Wonder why she didn't get more opportunities to play. I guess she has some potential but it looks to me as though TW is accumulating some bodies so he can play intra squad games. Hope I'm wrong but not very impressed with the pickup.

 

You and VegasGator are crueler than me. I'll give her a chance to prove she can be productive. She looked good coming out of travel and high school. Ole Miss isn't exactly a developmental proving ground. (Not sure we are either.). I still think, though, this is another portal pickup due to some sort of extenuating circumstances. I'm just guessing....she may just have wanted to come home and was willing to play without a scholarship and have her college costs picked up by whatever Florida programs she has already earned.

 

She could be sneakily good for us I think... high rated recruit for a reason. I wouldn't judge too harshly off performance at Ole miss. That program hasn't felt right since Kaitlin Lee was there. Also the personal stuff she has had to deal with. A reset may be the best thing.

 

Impact players who are either still looking for a new home or haven't announced their new destination yet.Vawter, Erickson, Taryn kern, keeney. Am I missing anyone else?

You can’t just ignore the really good portal pickup because it doesn’t fit your narrative. I consider Brooke a depth piece moving forward. We need more players on the roster, simple as that. A replacement for Wellen with a significantly higher ceiling.

 

Korbe is a clear outlier to the long historical trend and there is ample reason to suspect the reason for that. At least at this point. We'll see what happens going forward.

 

Are Sklyer, Lindamann, Tofft, Jade, Charla part of the long historical trend?

 

Maxwell would be interesting. Haven't had a lefty in a while. Maybe Kenny steers her this way. There is the possibility Walton may have had insight to this already as for why we haven't picked up a pitcher yet unless that pitcher is vawter and we're waiting on her.

 

I think Maxwell might be the OU pickup we’ve been waiting for, with her just saying she’s tired of losing to them and she knows she can’t win a title against OU, so why not go there to get one? It’s not like it’s a long drive.

But if she’s not going to OU and she's really on the market, I’d forget about Vawter and put all my efforts into getting her. She’s been rather amazing most of her career.

 

I'd take either one in a heartbeat. Maxwell is more of a strikeout pitcher, Vawter has been more of a workhorse. Would be a tremendous pick-up to get either one, for sure.

Maxwell's stats:
58-20, 1.58 ERA, 494.2 IP, 746 K's, 190 BB, 107 AP, 79 GS, 40 CG, 21 SHO, 21 SV, .158 BA against.

 

With the OSU pitching coach retiring in June, I guess this makes changing teams a little more understandable. Being a Grad Transfer as well.

 

I'm sticking with Vawter. I've put all my good MOJO into her coming to UF. I don't want to waste it. Maxwell's from Texas, maybe she'll head to UT? I could see her going to FSU. Who knows?
