If the pictures were of someone who was 17 it would be considered child porn I think. Not that I’m trying to defend him.

If this was FSU or Georgia, he probably wouldn’t have been arrested.

At UF, just getting charge means you’re gone.

I can see him ending at someplace like Ole Miss or Auburn.

Remember Steve Babik? Sideline reporter for Gators. I remember his case he got in trouble for downloading, possessing, distributing child pornography over one-year period (some sort of file sharing, whether active or passive). He received a 12-year sentence (I think minimum 5-years). I guess Steve didn't have NFL Dad and loads of money. I just don't see how you go from five felony counts to two misdemeanors. I've read of other people going to prison and spend their lives in sexual offender databases on nothing more than the testimony of a minor and no physical evidence. Here there was a digital footprint and if I remember correctly, it was reported he ADMITTED his guilt when questioned by police. As far as I'm concerned, Kitna should never set foot in Gainesville again and he should stay in his State and be happy he has a life left to live comfortably. Hell, maybe even football, but not around here!

Big difference between 17 and 7. We have no idea what he did.

THAT, not "something like that" (and will still root against UF if we ever face him).

Thanks for forcing me to take another look at this. Of course (and given the above gutless example), even allegations, false or not, of CP means he never goes to UF again. But those are some interesting details I never thought about or knew about. And here I was going to just throw him out with the bathwater like everyone else.

    Federal charges vs state charges.

I can see a lot of people getting jammed up in the future because of technology. The way kids are now with cellphones, there’s probably a lot of inappropriate stuff on their phones from teenage relationships, encounters, and gossip. I had some very serious talks with my teenager about phone discipline. Thankfully, it seems they heeded my words. So easy for a picture to get forwarded and circulated throughout a school like wildfire.

My 17 yo Daughter told me the other day that one of her friends (also 17) had sent another friend (a boy) intimate pics of herself and that they were spread all over school. I went off on her and told her that it was distribution of child porn and that her friend should be down at the PD making a complaint (although I have heard of underage individuals that sent their own pics to another person catching charges for distribution). She quickly back-tracked and said her friend was not nude, but scantily dressed, but I really wonder if that was the case.

I've always told my kids that whatever you post on the internet stays there forever, so to think for a moment before hitting that send button.

I think someone in the news media should request the evidence from the SA now that the case has been plead down.

Yep, and imagine if you have that stuff on your phone when you are 15-16 and don't delete it when you become 18. I'm not sure how the law works if it treats you differently when you have it as a minor or adult, but I could see how a person could get charged with a Kitna-like offense that way.
