Not at all. From the area.
Seems like a great kid. Sad to see him go.
We really need a transfer outfielder with some pop.

Agree! Which is why I imagine someone like Jac or Shelton might fit in LF. Plenty of other INF options.

LSU struck out as much or more than we did on the season.

With Chris Arroyo, apparently, transferring out, these are the roster pitchers left: Cade Fisher, Blake Purnell, Brandon Neely, Phillip Abner, Nic Facarrotta, Ryan Slater, Fisher Jameson, Pierce Coppola, Jake Clemente, Sam Sloan. Kelly Austin is transferring in and we have 11 pitchers in this year's signing class, which includes Caden McDonald who recently flipped from UCF. We may lose 2 or 3 of those freshman pitchers to the draft, but it seems to me we 1 more weekend starter-type from then portal. I know Neely, Austin, Fisher and Coppola could fill the bill, but a guy like Luke Holman would really solidify things, IMO.

    Am I correct in saying:

Sloan had not pitched in two years? Injuries?

Coppola has thrown 4 and 1/3 in 2 years. Injuries.

Jake Clemente- I know he’s somewhat close as saw him throwing off mound at Supers but hasn’t thrown in a year.

Hoping they all get healthy but we’ve never or not seen much of Sloan, not seen much of Coppola, major potential as evidenced by outing against Liberty, and not seen Clemente at all. Lots of risk so will have to grab a proven portal arm or two. Now if Coppola is back at full strength next year we could have a very good weekend rotation. To be great need a middle inning arm and a flex/versatile arm. Not looking for velo or “thrower” but gritty guys that know how to pitch.

Yep, for sure. For all the ups and downs still pretty impressive for not pitching in last 2 years. I think a lot of people forget that.

Sloan got hit in the head with a comebacker late in his HS career & Coppola has had shoulder injuries. Very tall pitchers and shoulder injuries are a bad combo & head injuries rarely get better after a few months.

I'd love for either or both to come back, pitch for the 2024 Gators, kick butt, and take names. But at this point, for either of them, earning a degree from top-10 UG, and (as the NCAA says) "going pro in something other than sports" and doing in well in whatever field they choose would be a pretty good outcome.

Any GatorsBB success would, at least for me, be a pleasant surprise.

Wow, thanks for info on Sloan. I’m instantly a fan and hope and pray he makes it back.

@neutrino_boi — completely agree with you on the difficulties returning from injuries to compete again at this level.

I think in the case of Coppola he’s facing an especially tough rehab return as he works to come back from both back and TJ surgeries. Special place in my heart for any athlete rehabbing to come back from career ending injuries to compete at this level. We went through it with Alan and it makes it real to me for all of our guys.

Sloan isn't that tall, and has worked hard to come back from his injuries. That being said, he is very academic minded and will do just fine at the true "next level".

Did Coppola have TJ? I thought it was shoulder surgery……which has its own issues but Nick has said the coaches are very optimistic about his return.

He did not have TJ. He was out last year due to back issues. This year was a shoulder impingement that required surgery.

I had read somewhere about him having TJ and going through the rehab protocols. Sorry about the confusion and Thank You @jdgator for the clarification.

I knew that the back injury/surgery was from earlier.

So no Billy Amick. Who does O'Sullivan go after now? Hopefully a pitcher or two.

    I'm shocked on this one.
