Seems like a light sentence. From what I remember, the images he shared where like child sex abuse under 10 years old, or something like that. I know he didn’t take the pictures, and just shared them, but still…

Edit… not sure I have the age right… found an article were the police described the images as “prepubescent” so I guess that could be 12ish…

How do you get from there to “disturbing the peace”?

Pretty good deal for him, considering the idiot admitted exactly what he was doing when the police first knocked on his door.

“yeah, I knew I shouldn’t have those pictures on my phone, should I?”

 

Absent some significant problem(s) with the case, that is an "unusual" disposition.

 

Ultimately I really don’t know exactly what he did or how he came upon these images. There is no doubt it was exceedingly stupid and inappropriate but is there any evidence that it was anything more than awful judgement?

I hate to see somebody’s life ruined just because of a couple of stupid decisions.

 

It seems unusual because many of the rumors reported on this forum weren't true. I noted that a few months ago and told people they'd be surprised by the resolution of the case based on what was reported on here.

 

I don’t have a dog in this hunt but I don’t have much sympathy with someone who downloads kiddie porn. You can mistakenly go to a sight maybe but you don’t download it and you don’t share it.

 

So what was/is your take? I don’t recall seeing it.

 

I have not shared my info because I don't know how comfortable the person who gave it to me is with me sharing it. I'll simply ask people to think about it. Would somebody get this deal if the government had strong evidence they possessed or shared little kid porn?

Ask yourself how a 19/20 year old might get charged with "child porn," but the government would ultimately decide to give him a slap on the wrist. Y'all are smart. You know the answer.

Sounds like you are implying it’s like a 19/17 age difference thing where he took some pics of his girlfriend…. Which is a way different than what the police reported (I.e., prepubescent girls, sex abuse pics, he found them on the internet but didn’t know it was illegal.)

 

I absolutely hate this. Hard not to suspect a significant amount of dollars changed hands to get this sort of verdict. Despicable.

Yeah I’m not sure who to believe. All the info we had before this verdict suggested it involved pre-pubescent girls.

 

One of the five images of child pornography Florida Gators quarterback Jalen Kitna possessed was of a prepubescent girl engaged in a sex act with an adult man, according to the Gainesville Police Department.

That’s among the details revealed in an arrest report, obtained Thursday morning by the Tampa Bay Times, about the complaints against the 19-year-old Kitna.

The investigation began in June with a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children into images of child pornography being shared on the messaging system Discord. Gainesville police received the case in July. The user’s IP address and phone number helped lead investigators to Kitna.


The report said Kitna shared that image of a prepubescent girl and another of a pubescent female exposing herself. “So young junior” are among the words written on both pictures. He told authorities that he thought they were legal because he found them online.

When police searched Kitna’s phone, they found three more images of two nude pubescent juveniles in the shower, according to the report. All three of those images appear to be self-produced and were saved onto his cell phone last December. The report did not estimate their ages.
