It may seem basic to you, but it’s the application that is going to create problems. As I’ve said repeatedly, you should read the comments from the Michigan legislators who actually wrote this bill. It is designed to prohibit misgendering Because the wacky left in Michigan, and in other states, think that Misgendering somebody is a form of violence. Such a characterization is so demeaning to all of the victims, who have actually experienced real violence. You are equating someone who has a penis who is upset being called a dude to someone who was raped, beaten, robbed at gunpoint. It is just silly to the average person.

Well, you got the last part right for once in your life. This law could be used to punish someone who calls a white person black, or a Satan worshiper a Buddhist. It all comes down to being able to read English, and understand how statutes are interpreted. All you need is for someone to complain that they’re feeling threatened because their white neighbor keeps calling them white when in fact, they are black. Why do you think there would be an exception under the statue that would protect the white guy?

it is clear to me that you don’t understand how the laws work. I’ve told you time and time again in these posts how this will be interpreted, which is not a guess on my part, but is actually the words from the people who wrote the statute. It is the purpose behind the bill. I’ve asked you repeatedly to explain to me how somebody could be committing a crime regarding “gender identity or expression” that is not “misgendering.” Simply put, tell me what the phrase, “gender identity or expression” means in this statute. If you don’t have an answer, you should STFU, because your responses are nothing more than CNN talking points….and we all know CNN sucks.

Wow ... I said it would be really dumb if you believe that a person could be arrested for misidentifying a Satan worshipper as a Buddhist, you still went for it ... way to embrace it.

Anyway, your question seems simple. Gender Identity is listed in this bill because it's a hate crime bill that protects -- among all other groups/characteristics you mentioned (race, religion, age, ect) -- trans people from ... and I quote ... "repeated or continuing" "harassment and intimidation" that "actually causes the victim to feel terrorized, frightened, or threatened". So the crime, by this law, would be continuing and repeatedly harassing a person for being trans to the point that it actually causes them to feel terrorized, frightened, or threatened.

Again, nowhere in the bill does it say isolated cases of misgendering rises to that level on it's own ... you'd have to be a real asshole to continually and repeatedly harass a trans person (or any person for that matter) to the point that they actually feel terrorized, frightened, or threatened ... and probably should be arrested. And again, nowhere in the law does it mention pronouns. I'm sure you can think of other ways to harass a trans person that doesn't involve pronouns, but pronouns certainly could be a part of it, given how the bigots already get off on doing that.

OK, genius, riddle me this. Before this stupid law was written, if I harassed somebody repeatedly, who is transgender, to the point where they were frightened, and scared to death, do you think there may be a law on the books which I could be charged with? Wait, that’s unfair, because I asked you to think. Let me answer it for you. The answer is yes, and the current law doesn’t give a shit whether you pitch or catch or don’t play ball at all. The current law doesn’t care whether you dress up as a goat, or dress up as a woman. It’s gender blind.

this is why you can’t read proposed laws in a vacuum. Any time a new law is written, you have to ask yourself what is the purpose of this law? What is it supposed to do? How can it be used? As I said, for the hundredth time, all you need to do is ask the people who wrote the law. I have read several media quotes from the authors of this bill regarding its intent to protect trans people. The reality is, trans people already had/have all the same protections as you, me, racist BLM a-holes, fascist Antifa, national socialist (NAZIs), etc. You see, the Michigan Trans community is comprised of people. Not special people, just people. Prior to this abomination, Michigan law applied equally to trans people across the board. Now something has changed.

so ask yourself genius…why adopt a law that purports to make a trans person a special person, with special protection? How does the trans community differ from the other 99% of the Michiganders? Well, they wear a costume and they unilaterally decided to bastardize the English language and demand that the other 99% comply. Comply with what? PRONOUNS! Protect my gender expression or else!

Sure, there are already laws against harassment and threatening people ... but you'd have to know it is not unusual to pass these additional laws so they can now tag "hate crime" onto the charges when it's warranted and give them the longer sentences that they deserve. I fully support that. The reason why they have to pass these laws is because LGTB, Minorities, non-Christians, immigrants, etc., are actually hated and targeted by sick and deranged groups of people, and those people should get longer prison sentences, IMO.

Great law. Sorry you don't like it. But like I said, you still have Florida.

It's amazing how you've given up on all your positions -- about how they were going charge everyone with a felony for calling a drag queen a "he" ... and now you are going with lame ass route.

But if that's what you want ... DeSantis passed a bunch of laws that waste taxpayer money. You support more and more and more government. You support red tape and waste of MY taxpayer money.

Feelings of fear and danger are not subjective? "Reasonable" is objective? :emoji_thinking:

I didn't equate the MI law with FL's SYG, I contrasted it (or at least corrected a mischaracterization of it).

I compared it to FL's stalking statute, bc "....causes emotional distress" doesn't seem too far from "...feel terrorized frightened or threatened "

Maybe I tipped my king a tad early.

It's Michigan. I had more important issues to tend to, and I don't care much about Michigan.

To a very large degree, yes. No sane, rational non-woke person is going to fear for his life because a man in a cowboy hat called him “sir”, even if it happens intentionally and repeatedly. On the other hand, if a man kicks in a front door and enters my house most sane, rational non woke people will have no issue with the door kicker getting lead poisoning.

You just literally described unequal Justice. I am a hard no on that. “Hate crimes” is nothing more that a liberal code word for “we’re woke, no joke”

You think painting a swastika and 'death to jews' on a synagogue is no worse a crime than any other graffiti?
