Context, though. Never heard of this group. Probably don’t care for their agenda. But that quote from Hitler is clearly being used as a warning, not an endorsement. The whole purpose of the Hitler Youth Program was to break children from the authority of their parents, and it was scarily successful in that regard. For further reading, William Shirer’s opus Rise and Fall of the Third Reich goes into great detail about the Nazi strategy to corrupt the youth and separate them from traditional German values. The group in question does not seem to be advocating for taking charge of the youth the way Hitler did but rather warning against letting the state separate children from the values of their parents the way Hitler did.

And before anyone asks, I don’t know the context of the Abraham Lincoln quote, so I’m not about guess what their point was on that one.

 

You’re lucky that you haven’t heard of them. They are running roughshod over school boards, districts, and teachers here in Florida.

Their goal is to control education in a Christian Nationalist kinda way. They’re backed by dark money and they want to make teachers absolutely miserable if they don’t conform/buy into their nonsense.

I went ahead and retired rather than fool with their nonsense. There’s no way that I will take the chance of a complaint/investigation because some Moms for Liberty yahoo decided that she didn’t like something I said in class (that she heard second/third hand)

My district would throw me under the bus as we currently have a QAnon nut bag and a Proud Boy on our board and I’d be on the hook for my own legal representation.

In addition, our new superintendent had an affair with one of the founders of Moms for Liberty. No thanks.

Recall that Americans (probably your own friends and neighbors) clamored for lockdowns and mask and vaccine mandates.

This is why I don’t trust Americans to ‘find our way to freedom’ through the intermediaries we call politicians.

I had hail and hearty ‘don’t tread on me’ friends who disowned me for not buying into Covid tyranny.

What I’m suggesting is the populace is more likely to fall for more government than for ‘government’ to fall.

To open defiance I add disengagement where possible. Home schooling would be an example of the latter.
