It seems like some of the lazy people here are exaggerating about some of our players and their behavior in the past, don't you think? Meyer was no saint, but his team was not what I would consider to be on par with the lawlessness going on at UGA.

 

I don't know, rick. I used to keep score on this kinda stuff, esp. when FSU had players running rampant under Saint Bobby and Jimbo. Nowa days, I'm less inclined to dig into it, but also accept the fact that we had some pretty bad apples in our time. There was some pretty compelling evidence, despite some also compelling contrary evidence, that Hernandez shot some kid in a car while in G'ville. I'm not suggesting it happened, but there was something to it (not just the "Hawaiian" reference) that makes one pause.
As for UGA, I hope the bad actors are held accountable and that the program burns to the ground. Otherwise, I don't give much of a rip about the tit-for-tat.

 

I can tell from the skips in the post count who is up to their usual garbage. Just block him. Much better reading. They offered little if any actual discussion other than drive by agenda snarks.

 

Just for my own curiosity, mind telling me who you are replying to and who you are referring to? One poster snowflaked and blocked me after I suggested that they "lighten up Francis" (it was merited). Curious also about to whom you are referring.

I'm sure there are plenty of sports writers, bloggers, podcasters and other media types that are going to protect the the program at UGA by attacking the AJC, citing the usual reasons with the boosters - smear campaign, haters, political culture, etc. PR will issue a statement reassuring everyone Saint Smart did nothing "illegal" and that the UAA takes these matters seriously and holds their student athletes accountable to the highest standards. It will smell like the Brandon Miller hog wash. Nothing happens unless someone in the university take legal action that could result in criminal or civil penalties - yet the culture will presist even then.

 

This entire post is spot on, NO other program in the country gets obliterated by the media like UF.

 

But you NEVER stop and think WHY they chose the uga/smart program.... just like why top kids chose a rogue fsu/jimbo program.

 

UGA, LSU, Bama...all get a "pass" from the vaunted sports media machine. UF rarely, if ever, does. I'm no conspiracy theorist, but its a pattern I've noticed and I've seen many winters.

 

That’s easy: UGA has been the hottest program in the country since Smart got there; just like kids were lining up to play for rogue FSU when they were on top and kids were lining up to play for Meyer when UF was on top. All that’s happening now is history repeating itself.

 

Not all run-ins with the law are equal. And some people are counting events that never even happened while they were students in Gainesville.
