He has said and done more than enough over the years to demonstrate his character (or lack thereof).

 

Nice you would defend that POS that took a hostage shot a cop and tried to flee.

 

His people are professional and have a good reputation with the population and there's been no major scandal in the many years he's run the department, that I can recall. I made it clear I don't think much of his personal comportment, but that to me is separate from the department as a whole.

 

I can think of another one. Right or wrong on the issues, it is an annoying trait.

Yep, saving the victims, the woman and the SWAT team cop, should be "celebrated" unless you're (not you Davis, but others here) for letting this druggie out on bond while waiting for his trial.

At least he didn't have the chance to commit suicide, after taking out some people first. What's sad is that theoretically he might have been granted an affordable bail, and who knows what he could have done then. Some blue states are doing just that with these types people.

 

Actually, pal, it doesn't require defending the actions of the guy who died to think that our government officials shouldn't gloat about killing Americans, no matter the justification. Whatever you think of this man, he was somebody's son or brother or father. You don't have to respect him or condone his behavior to believe in showing some decency to his family.

 

Mistreated children being held in jail. Sent undercover deputies into a minority groups' protest meeting to spy on them. Threatened to check warrants on people who came to hurricane shelters during Hurricane Irma. He's a bad guy.

 

This is Grady Judd’s schtick, I remember once he rapped about a drug bust. A certain contingent finds this behavior amusing, but I doubt they’d be amused if the Capitol police captain held a press conference rapping “we put Ashli Babbitt in a flashy casket.”

Meh. I see 8t as psychological warfare. He is being graphic to discourage others and to make sure they know this aint a game.

Not my style and my preference is always bring them in alive and stand trial, but once that first shot is popped off, I say turn him into swiss cheese.

Those swat guys are his friends and employees and someone's parent/spouse.

 

There is zero deterrent effect to what he's doing. It's all about politics. He thinks acting like that will continue getting him elected. And he's not wrong.

I'll continue to consider it repugnant for government officials to boast about killing Americans. Nobody is saying it's not sometimes necessary to take a life to save others. But that sure as shit ain't something to celebrate.

 

Maybe it depends on the situation. Do you think the officer who ended the shooting in Nashville or Texas should be celebrated?

 

Celebrated in what way? Given props for doing his job? Sure. No, I don't think the officer or his bosses should go on TV and gloat about killing the person, no matter how much that person deserved it.

 

I roll my eyes every time he does one of those prostitution stings and then acts like he busted up a major drug cartel at his presser. He's creating crime. Invariably he snags a Disney employee or two (he LOVES to single them out) and an out of town cop or official. He also thought for some reason (likely just to be on TV again) he should attend the press conference when DeSaster announced the suspension of Andrew Warren.

Exactly. I doubt if the people committing these type of crimes are sitting around watching Grady's pressers and then having an internal pros and cons conversation. It's grandiose grandstanding by a hack politician.

 

It lacks professionalism. Reminds me of this comparison of GOP vs Democrat processing of a grave but successful incident. This is how the GOP thinks (or knows) its supporters want.
