I think you nailed Mullen with “abandonment”. I definitely feel he had thicker skin than the other 2 and could handle the noise, but this was not his “dream job” …it was always a vehicle to something else. As for the other two I believe it was their “dream job”, or on par with it, but something they could not handle long term.

 

The only one of those three I really dislike is Mullen. The other two simply weren't ready for the job. Mullen COULD have been great, but his arrogance and willful negligence wrt recruiting are inexcusable.

 

Hell yeah, he's rated the # 1 overall player in the country......of Germany.

That special Georgia Bulldog "character" just keeps shining through - at least since the 1940s when the rest of the country mobilized to defend the nation from Hitler and Tojo. Meanwhile, good old UGA somehow managed to hold back enough talent from the war effort to win a NC against a depleted field of contestants. The priority at that misbegotten program has always been to win at any cost. I don't expect any changes anytime soon.

So pate claims the accusations against bulldog players all went nowhere so the article was just click bait. He faults people for not doing diligence because they just read headlines.

My counter to that would be that reading the AJC isn't exactly doing diligence on these claims. What we already know is Georgia was allowed access to filter the information after the car crash and death. You really think all of these claims against players were untainted by the program? Give me a break bud.

OK, I'll admit that I took an almost instant dislike to Pate right off the bat. IMHO, he came across as a self-promoting, narcissistic doosh with a penchant for stirring up crap - with little or nothing of actual importance to say. At this particular moment, I choose to trust my initial impression.
