The years under Meyer were no way comparable to the cover-ups under Smart.
It's clear Smart has the cops under his spell- much like Bobby did at FSU.
It's also clear Meyer didn't have the same connection with the police. Richt didn't either back in the day.

This is a pretty good article from 2009 which mentions the sandwich throwing...
I realize this flies in the face of the "Urban Meyer let his players run wild" crowd but most of the stuff was minor.
When it was major, the players were kicked off.

UF Football Arrests a Problem Or Simply a Sign of the Times?

    Excerpt from the story...
Jenkins, 20, was involved in a fight, then later ran when told to stop, police said. His lawyer says Jenkins attempted to break up a fight that took place downtown, then fought back when an attacker grabbed at a gold chain he was wearing. Football offenses range from throwing food at a sandwich shop employee, to assault on a girlfriend, to using the credit card of a fellow student after her death in a motorcycle accident.

While 24 arrests in four years seems alarming - in the same span Georgia had 30, Tennessee 21, Florida State 16, South Florida 11 and Miami 2 - Gainesville law enforcement officers say it should be taken in context with the general student population.

"We know as law enforcement, it's faster, easier and more efficient to take people to jail to stop the fight and get them away from the situation before it gets worse, than to mediate it on the streets," Kameg said. "And those factors usually will provide, that on any given weekend if it's busy, you can easily see 20 to 30 arrests - misdemeanor citations and total arrests - of college students."

Of the arrests under Meyer, seven involved three players: Jon Demps (two), Jacques Rickerson (two) and Ronnie Wilson (three). All were dismissed from the team. Of the 24 total arrests, 15 were misdemeanors, nine felonies. Five were traffic-related. Seventeen of the charges were dropped for lack of evidence or dismissed after deferred prosecution guidelines were completed.

As much as I would love to see uga go down in flames, I will believe it when I see it. They are fully expecting to go on a run like bama did for over a decade. It it up to the Gators to make sure that does not happen: recruit, develop, coach, and play.

The UAA is a legal entity. Corporations can't speak.

They speak and act through their officers, directors, employees, etc.
Urban was an employee of UAA.

You argue against yourself: first you point out how the GPD and UFPD were all over our players, then you tally up the arrest record to make your case against Urban. The arrest record is BS, because no such arrests would ever have been made at Bama, UGA, LSU, and UT--and you know it. This AJC article notes multiple SERIOUS crimes such as rape, etc., at UGA that went not only without arrests being made, but without any action being taken by UGA. Quite the opposite; UGA deliberately interfered with police investigations, and intimidated victims and witnesses.

Look, if you feel as slimy as the dogs, then go wallow in the mud with them. But leave UF and the rest of us out of it.

Urban is a representative/employee of the UAA, (The UAA is run by a board of directors led by the University of Florida's athletic director. The athletic director also acts as the UAA's chief financial officer and reports directly to the president of the university.) but even then, you obviously lost track of the point. It appears you like to make assumptions about what is stated rather than read the statement in its own right. If that is the case, then there is no use of me repeating myself to make a point that you appear unable to comprehend. You are repeating the same statements you made three posts ago, to which I responded and quite frankly, its unnecessary for me to continue to humor because of your high sensitivity. Some people just love to argue on message boards to make some inane point that is lost on the rest of us.

If you can't understand basic English and intent, then I'll leave this as my final response. Have a good day.

ESPN ignoring it is not surprising. They have turned a blind eye to every bit of smoke at Bama for years already. Too much money to lose by outing their cash cow.

Just like in FSU the Dawgs likely blame the girl (or in Kirbys case guy) and probably say she was in heat and it wasn't the dogs fault.

    Inside your head.
It boils down to the type of player the head coach is willing to recruit. Urban had something like 31 arrests on his roster his last championship season. That is a reflection of the character of the HC and his willingness to look the other way.
I remember when we called Miami "Thug U". They were willing to recruit bad boys in order to win championships. Larry Coker had no problem with that.
So I think it starts with the head coach. If he is willing to win at all costs you get what Kirby Smart is facing right now.
The difference is in the culture at UGA compared to UF; night and day.

We never had to worry about this kind of crap when the Head Ball Coach was on our sideline. He epitomized winning and doing it the right way without compromise. I hope/think we have another one like the HBC on our sideline now.

So then I guess we should be looking at what other schools were recruiting the troublemakers on UGAs roster. Because that would mean those programs had no problem soliciting the services of those same lowlife athletes.

I tried to tell the puppy I was his friend once too. I was 14 and I don’t try to be friends with police dogs in cars anymore.

Correct, that it was not under Meyer. This was LB Antonio Morrison in 2013. It was his second arrest in two weeks, the first being a misdemeanor for punching a bouncer outside a club.

So, while I am glad the AJC is on this big time, Atlanta is different than Athens, and Macon, and Forsyth and so on. The rest of Georgia won't give a crap, and will play it as AJC is picking on them.
