This definition doesnt even account for refusing to clarify when challenged on the falsehood. And I am not the only person calling her out on her falsehood.

Is it my belief that they should be afforded every single constitutional right of any other American as long as you dont trample on another constitutional right to do so?

Is it my hiring and subsequent promotion of a known transgender person a couple years back that troubles you?

Maybe my personal connection with a dear friend who has a child that my family adores that is currently going through this?

They comments were indeed troubling to me. I don’t intend to get wrapped up in your bombast so I’ll leave it at that.

 

I agree and this used to be a more liberal issue. Now it seems more center. Neither extreme left nor extreme right tolerate free speech, particularly in comedy. That's why we can't joke about Budweiser/Dylan Mulvaney or Trump/Desantis without pissing off a large number of Americans.
The other 75% of America love it. Dave Chapelle comes to mind. George Carlin of course is the GOAT.

My oldest daughter is at a liberal college in granola crunch Boone NC. That place is populated with every initial in the book. Never once did we try to discourage her attendance.

Our friends daughter is the same age as my middle child. They have known each other their entire lives. I would never dream of intentionally keeping them apart.

If you needed to respond to it at all, you could have simply corrected her and said, 'no, I don't believe you are going to hell'. Instead you come along and start screaming 'liar'. It's the same as when you called me a liar a few months ago. What I said was not a lie. Assumptions aren't lies.

 

Some of us process things through laughter. On 9/11 a classmate of mine made a joke that he hoped the owner of the building was up to date on property insurance. I laughed my ass off. So did he. We got a lecture from the Dean. But that was how the two of us were able to process the footage before our eyes and not lose our damn minds.

 

Censorship for what? Because you were personally offended? Because the claim may not have been truthful? I think there's some truth to that generally. But I noted with the submersible tragedy, in particular, that there were so many memes popping up on instagram making jokes. I'm not sure that the people making and sharing those memes were trying to cope with what happened. I noticed most of the memes/jokes made reference to the price tag of the trip or the wealth of those who died. Seemed like jealousy and resentment to me, and I wonder how much that might be at play with at least some aspects of anti-Semitism if people resent what they perceive as Jewish people being disproportionately successful.

Most of the jokes I saw about the submersible had to do with crappy engineering, a video game controller, lack of quality control, the Billionaire stating he didn't want experienced white people working in his company, and other stupid crap. We can make fun of people for their bad choices. You went down in a sub, piloted with an XBox, after ignoring not one but three QC warnings. You are not immune from ridicule. We need to stop being afraid of hurting people's feelings. Comedy is supposed to be edgy, and memes are modern, open source comedy.

1. Assumptions can be lies. It is clearly stated in the websters definition.
2. I can list at least 3 falsehoods that she has said about me directly and refused to take back.
3. THREE mods have now asked for her to clarify and she has refused. Her "assumption" is no longer an assumption. Why hasnt she clarified?
4. You posted a gif of a very young little girl twerking and then said that was my culture.
You claimed that was just an "assumption" too.
It was gross and insulting. You had no reason to think sexualized images of children reflected my " culture".

Don't disagree with you there. Humor can range from a coping mechanism to deal with tragedy all the way to an effort to camouflage resentment, anger, or even hatred. Sometimes it's hard to tell where a given person is coming from since everyone has an online platform to be a part-time comedian.

 

She doesn't need to clarify anything. She said a couple of mods think she is going to hell. That's her assumption. It could be wrong or it could be right, but it's not a lie (and in fact many Christians do think she is going to hell). And it was probably tongue-in-cheek. All you really needed to do, if it even mattered to you, was correct her on what you actually do think.

As for my post that led you to call me a liar multiple times, my point was that right-wingers were screaming about drag queens grooming kids but you hear nary a peep from them about child beauty pageants, where kids are literally being groomed. But that kind of thing is more of a white conservative culture than a liberal gay culture, so it gets no attention from exploitative politicians like DeSantis. I was generalizing but so what? Everyone here generalizes.

And I'm just tired of posters misusing the word 'lie' here. We have another poster who called me a liar because I said Ron DeSantis was a racist. It's ridiculous.
