And so the debate goes and cities continue to burn.

Yeah, I must admit to a small case of narcissism since 2 consecutive 6 win seasons.

Got off topic - sorry City!
BCG - If the reports are even marginally correct they should have a public hanging for those gentlemen.

More on some of the involved deputies...

Deputies accused of shoving guns in mouths of 2 Black men

Two of the men allege that Rankin County sheriff’s deputies shoved guns into their mouths during separate encounters. In one case, the deputy pulled the trigger, leaving the man with wounds that required parts of his tongue to be sewn back together. In one of the two fatal confrontations, the man’s mother said a deputy kneeled on her son’s neck while he told them he couldn’t breathe.

When a Taser is used, it’s automatically logged into the device’s memory. The AP obtained the automated Taser records from the evening of Jan. 24. They show that deputies first fired one of the stun guns at 10:04 p.m. and fired one at least three more times over the next 65 minutes. However, those unredacted records might not paint a complete picture, as redacted records show that Tasers were turned on, turned off or used dozens more times during that period.

Another Black man, Carvis Johnson, alleged in a federal lawsuit filed in 2020 that a Rankin County deputy placed a gun into his mouth during a 2019 drug bust. Johnson was not shot.

The news outlet Insider has been investigating the sheriff’s department and persuaded a county judge to order the sheriff to turn over documents related to the deaths of four men in 2021. Chancery Judge Troy Farrell Odom expressed bewilderment that the department had refused to make the documents public.

    -------------------------------------

Sounds like a culture issue from the top down... When you shield the public from what's going on, and keep bad officers employed, you end up with what happened in the OP.

We are not all like these cops in Mississippi. It sounds like you're giving these sub-humans a pass, based on the "everybody does it," defense.

It’s obviously wrong, not even remotely close to any justification. So let’s not pretend I said that, ever.
I responded to a specific post from a specific poster.
And yes, that poster is an ivory tower poster with no perspective.

Unfortunately you are correct. Some are more aggressive than others. Then put someone in a rough environment and watch out.

    Stop it.
You’re better than this. Wgb and city were acting as if they can’t believe cops can become aggressive and insane.
I responded to those guys not the op.

You don’t have the words and apparently you lack the brain power to understand the context.
    Classic city.

Sort of begs the question, are humans born innately good or bad.
You are saying we’re born mostly good and gatorhead and I’m saying humans are born mostly bad/raw and can be influenced by our environment.

Objectively, your comment was open to interpretation, which is why I posted in the form of a question.

Also Rankin County, also involving at least one of the officers in the torture allegations..

The mother alleges that Elward punched her son and rolled him over before kneeling on his neck and back for about 20 minutes until Deputy Luke Stickman arrived. Stickman also kneeled on Damien Cameron’s back before they handcuffed him and brought him to his family’s front porch, she alleges.

Monica Lee Cameron said her son pleaded with the deputies and said, “I can’t breathe.”

Monica Lee Cameron said her son was barely breathing as he collapsed several times while the deputies dragged him into the police car.

The family said the paramedics saw that he was not breathing and rushed him to Simpson General Hospital. The doctor there said they could not help Damien Cameron because of the intensity of his wounds and transferred him to the University of Mississippi Medical Center. The trauma team saw him, but it was too late. Damien Cameron died at age 29.

What an idiotic comment. Can’t believe someone was dumb enough to give this a winner rating.

Humans have and will continue to evolve. Barring a global catastrophe, violent crime rates will continue to decrease in the long run.

Obviously, getting fired isn’t enough if they did these things.

Generally, cops don't get fired until something goes public. If it doesn't go public, they don't get fired. For instance, some of these officers were still employed up until this week. This happened 6 months ago.

“Due to recent developments, including findings during our internal investigation, those deputies that were still employed by this department have all been terminated,” Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey said during a news conference Tuesday, without specifying the number of deputies fired or their names. The deputies had been on administrative leave, the sheriff said, and he declined to comment on specific allegations.

The terminations come roughly two weeks after Michael Jenkins and Eddie Parker filed a lawsuit alleging six deputies entered their Braxton home in January and handcuffed, kicked, waterboarded, repeatedly used Tasers on the men and attempted to sexually assault them. One deputy also put a gun in Jenkins’ mouth and shot him, the lawsuit says.
