Between home and auto insurance, it's becoming increasingly tougher to live in Florida. Skyrocketing Car Insurance Rates And Florida Takes The Lead - Calle Ocho News Florida is notorious for its breathtaking beaches, vibrant culture, and now, its exorbitant car insurance premiums. As if navigating through traffic in the Sunshine State wasn't challenging enough, Florida drivers are now grappling with the highest car insurance rates in the entire country. According to experts, Florida ranks as the third most dangerous state to drive in. The combination of reckless driving habits and congested roads leads to a higher likelihood of accidents, resulting in inflated insurance premiums. The state's roads have become a playground for insurance fraud, further exacerbating the situation. Fraudulent claims have become so prevalent that insurers are compelled to adjust their rates to cover these losses.
Well, hey, this is the price one has to pay to live in the nation's least woke state. We're moving permanently to Western North Carolina. Asheville is beautiful.....and liberal.
Spent many a summers there (in the mountains near Asheville), great place. Not sure I could make it in the winters though.
That may only take backseat to House insurance. If only our Governer was more concerned about out-of-control insurance rather than wasting money on human trafficking, frivolous lawsuits and diverting state funds for his soon-to-be-wasted national presidential run.
Pro Tip: If you want to be taken seriously, maybe spell Governor correctly and maybe don't make up stuff like "diverting state funds for his soon to wasted national presidential run". Take a lap.
"DeSantis, who ran a successful re-election campaign last year, and Friends of Ron DeSantis, a political action committee that supported him, have taken a combined $3.9m in contributions from insurance industry players. If donations to the Republican party of Florida since 1 January 2019 – days before DeSantis assumed office – are added, this total swells to more than $9.9m." DeSantis accused of favoring insurance-industry donors at residents’ expense
I sold personal lines insurance, ten years ago, and even then FL premiums were among the highest in the nation, only NY and NJ were higher.
Driving was once viewed as a privilege. Now it's viewed as a right and it appears to me, as I spend a lot of time on the road, that many people really do not understand the concept of safe driving skills. I see a lot of people that drive as though they are the only people on the road and because they need to get somewhere now you had better get out of their way. I wish our driving laws would be enforced(speeding is the first thing that comes to mind), and mandatory driving school/testing for everyone.
We've always been here in the summer months, but the winters are relatively mild, according to our neighbors. We lived 5 years in Europe in the 60's-70's and survived colder weather. The Florida I knew in the 50's-60's is no more, and I no longer feel any attachment to it. (I'll always be a strong Gator fan, though!)
Agree other than human trafficking. It is one thing that you cannot throw enough money and time at. Yes, DeSantis has done little to nothing to curb the financial sting for the middle and low wage earners. The popularity of our state has made it very difficult on those that were living here prior to Covid. The only way DeSantis wins the primary is if Trump is in jail or dead and Trump would most likely beat him from jail.
this along with so much traffic is a big reason why kids aren’t as excited about driving. A few decades ago they couldn’t wait to get their DL, getting it on their 16th bday. Not so much now. Not fun “driving” when constantly battling traffic and being alert for what you mention.
I was pleasantly surprised with my car renewal from Progressive. I have two cars covered on that policy, it only went up 10% and that's with Progressive cutting me a check under my UM coverage. Tip: If anyone has classic/exotic cars, look into collector's car insurance. You have to own another car for daily driving and the collector car has to be garaged. Some companies, for a slightly higher premium, even allow for some to and from work and other types of driving that other companies restrict. Philadelphia Insurance Companies does this. These are usually stated value policies making resolution of a total loss claim much less of a headache. Homeowners went from $3700 this period to $6700 for next.
A friend of mine pays $12,000 annually for his stepdaughter‘s car insurance premiums. No consequences whatsoever for her poor driving habits. The mother says that she doesn’t “enable“ her daughter. SMDH. Sadly, they are doing their daughter and all of us a disservice as they are insulating her from responsibility.
I think the human trafficking was a dig at Desantis moving immigrants around the country many with no idea about what is going on… human trafficking - on the tax payers dime.
Get rid of PIP, enforce mandatory insurance requirements with real penalties, like car forfeiture and jail, make insurance fraud a felony that actually matters and mandate prison. I have great insurance through USAA and my rates just got jacked by about 30% on renewal last week. Looking at my bill, the biggest discrepancy between Florida, and the previous state I lived in, is the premium for uninsured motorist. That premium is greater than all of my other coverage combined. When I practiced insurance law in another state all of my insurance clients freaked out when there was a Florida loss because of the ridiculous pitfalls insurance companies face here. The plaintiffs bar runs this state.
