Walton can't go into fall, practice with just 2 freshmen pitchers, can he? Is there a conspiracy against him in being able to convince pitchers to come to UF? He sure didn't get a good one last year or the year before from the portal.
The evidence, based on now three years history if not more, is he doesn't care about the portal. I can only imagine the screaming from the sunshine pumpers but, absent any change and it is very late, I seriously wonder if Otis isn't a one-off and that she basically begged him for a spot as part of her med school planning rather than Walton pursuing her. There has been nothing else of significance in three years and we have known for years we absolutely have to address the pitching situation. Some say Lynch didn't want us, which doesn't make a lot of sense. Did we even go after her? Past trends would at the very least call that into question. It seems undeniable that Walton believes only in high school recruiting while the entire rest of elite programs either pound the portal or frequently use it to fill needs. We never do. When you believe you are right and the rest of the universe is wrong...that's usually trouble and we are in trouble.
Yeah....Tofft Echols, Lindamann, Jade, Skyler didn't fill needs and I'm sure Otis had to beg for a spot lol

Something to consider: We have picked up one great portal player but we still need another bat to come off the bench to pinch hit. You heard it here first - before fall ball starts, CTW will announce that Sara Longley will return for her Covid year.
Besides 2 capable arms, the only other real need I see another player capable of playing catcher. Otis should force one of Kistler or Goelz to the bench, though obviously neither of those provide big power from a pinch hitting perspective. But the addition of Otis should really round out the lineup quite nicely, assuming one of Mia Williams or Alyssa Hovermale can hold down the 3rd base position.
NOOO lol please no. sam came early and transferred. Bryn came in early and played like 3 games her entire career.Different positions and different circumstances for both sam and Bryn. but we are 0-2 in keeping early enrollees at florida.
Obviously CTW is The Coach. And obviously , he has had a LOT of success here. We are told to be patient because he knows what he is doing. And obviously, he is going to ‘get’ the opportunity to show that he ‘has a plan’. If it works, he had a good one. If it doesn’t , then that will be obvious too. But from ‘here’, there are more than a few that are really ‘scratching their head’ trying to figure out what that plan is. But that’s ok. We’re just fans and it’s just a sport. Go Gators.

I keep waiting for Taylor Shumaker to come back to reality. This kid has a perfect body, runs with the wind, hits for average and outstanding power. I was impressed with her on the Batbusters last year when she was two years younger than most. She is still one year younger. She has simply destroyed the entire month of June. I don't have compiled stats but she has to be hitting over .600 and is hitting home runs in almost every game. She is impossible to get out. Batbusters started yesterday the Colorado Sparkler tournament and played three. Taylor was 4-5 with 6 runs scored, 7 rbis, and 4 walks. Corona Angels simply walked her twice...wanted nothing to do with her. This is a typical day for her. I haven't watched the games yet so I can't determine home runs and extra base hits until I do. As most know here, I have watched all of our incoming kids this year multiple times. I know what we are getting. Based on what I am seeing now, Taylor is the best prospect since Amanda came to campus. (Not counting Skylar as she did not come to us as a high school recruit...although you can watch Taylor and you think you are watching Skylar. Not kidding.)
And she is a Gator commit, right? What's your take on Layla Lamar's commitment considering her Dad's health situation?
Taylor should sign her NLI this November. If you saw the interview of her someone posted a couple weeks ago, she loves everything about UF. As for Layla, and her sister JoJo who we would love to get a commitment from after Sept. 1, I wouldn't even hazard a guess as I have no way of knowing. The situation is dire. Their father needs a heart and kidney transplant. I certainly would not be surprised if she backs out in order to stay home with her mother and play at Duke. I can't predict that but it would be entirely reasonable and fully understandable. They both have to do what is best for them and the family and not us.
