I'm not too worried about Lynch. what I'm hearing from people like Justin McLeod, and others ( I forgot his name, but he tweets a lot of softball news as well) that Lynch main schools to transfer to were UGA and LSU. I'm going to be more stressed out if Vawter decides to go elsewhere.

If that is true, and Lynch didn't consider UF, a school she was interested in out of high school and a program that desperately needs what she can provide, then that is just another shock on top of shock after shock after shock. Given historical precedence, there is no reason to believe we even tried to get her. The fact is this: as I type this, UF has ZERO pitchers. Let me repeat that for some people claiming we are headed to a national championship next year....we do not have any pitchers on staff. ZIPPO. We had the potential to have three right now who have been on staff, of varying capability, and all three got out of town as fast as they could. Those are facts. Sunshine pumping is not.

Unless I've missed someone, the best pitcher left in the portal is the one from Wisconsin, Patyn Monticelli. I think players have a couple of more days to enter their names, but time is running out for sure.

Regarding Lynch, word was she was leaving Washington because she didn’t get accepted into the grad program of her choice at Washington. Her destination may be the result of grad school, more so than where she wanted to play or what school wanted her.

Varying capability? Now that is an understatement. Olivia had a conference ERA of 21.0, Lexie had a conference ERA of 6.10 and Rylee had a conference ERA of 4.00. Not exactly the type of numbers you build a program on. Rylee decided to pursue a career and the other two are trying to get picked up by lessor teams.

Just because kelly was interested when she was 15 or 16 years old doesn't mean she still is in her 20's. Or maybe she was still interested but LSU felt more "at home" We just see X is in the portal and then X is transferring to Y School. We don't see what happens in the middle of that. I'm not going to sit here and pretend like it doesn't bother me we have no returning pitchers on staff. I also chose to believe olivia and Lexi did what's best for them and in the long run what was best for the team. IMO both olivia and Lexi didn't seem too happy at florida. Rylee did what was best for her. I'm also not going to pretend like we didn't bring in two arms who both under performed greatly for us last season and this one. Now that the pitching coach is announced we are going to see some pitchers transferring in. I like that some fans believe we are going to win the national championship next season. It's better feeling than feeling like we aren't making it past regionals. I personally don't believe we are headed to title town next year. I mean.. powerhouse Oklahoma.
However, I do believe next season we are going to get a top 8 seed and be able to play a regional and possible supers at home.

Liberty pitcher Karlie Keeney is still in the portal. She'll be a grad transfer with 1 year of eligibility. She was their ace this year, 27-12 with a 2.03 ERA. Their catcher, Caroline Hudson, also a grad senior and asun poy, IS IN THE PORTAL AS WELL.

Another portal thread on another website says these are the only decent pitchers left unsigned:
    Vawter, Monticelli, Keeney, Delbrey, Gigante
I'm sure there are others, but probably from smaller schools or unproven at the D1 level. Needless to say, pickins are gettin' slim.

UT loading up it seems. Is it getting desperation time for getting a couple of pitchers?

Gigante as decent is a bit of a stretch.

Josey Erickson from OU is in the portal. This is a quality freshman who got a couple pinch hits and one start in the run to the championship. Could be the difference between over using the portal and incoming kids can't play and never using it like us.

Nope. Unless the sun stops rising in the east and we get Vawter, that ship left the port some time ago.

I wish we could throw more. Getting an AA, experienced pitcher to go with our incoming superstars would be huge.

Question: When recruiting players, do UF's academic standards go out the window? UF has become very discerning when looking at scores and GPA -- it's a top-5 school. But if you have a rise ball, change-up, and fastball, are you basically in at UF, despite barely having a GPA to graduate high school? Also, if you plan on graduating, UF is much more difficult than other schools in the SEC. Wonder whether that's a consideration for players in the portal.
