IMO two major things turned the game around. First, the grand slam. Second, Purnell shuts down lsu from gaining momentum by getting a dp. There are plenty of other Gators deserving of high recognition but these two key plays were pivotal. So happy for both of these guys!
I am so happy for Ty, Purnell, and Ficc. All dudes who have struggled at times this year coming through BIG TiME in our time of need. Especially Ty man. The pitchers kind of know that they may or may not see the field every game. Ty sat on the bench for a month, then becomes the savior in the biggest moment on the biggest stage. I love it for him.
I was driving and didn't get to watch but did listen. Very happy for the guys mentioned especially. Evans could be series MVP if Gators win it all. Purnell, Freshman all American last year. I'm sure he expected a far better season than he has had. Struggled with control and got buried on the bench and hadn't pitched in forever. He has gotten a lot of abuse in this forum, some justified some not, but he will always have this CWS memory and showed out at a crucial moment for the Gators.
Purnell was pretty bad in fall 2021 workouts, but much better during the 2021 season. He fell back last fall, and didn't pitch well during this season. I don't mind that he was not so great in March if he has such a great showing and wins game 2 of the finals. That's enough to be a hero for me.
Give some props to Prevesk and Fabian too. I don’t care what it was scored, I’m giving Prevesk a triple and a run scored. Fabian got a hit, and 2 rbi’s. Those are moments they will cherish forever. Was really hoping Talbott would make something happen too, but at least he got a chance.
