Ya'll really don't seem to understand what the meaning of the term "evidence" is.

There is possible doubt as to whether Biden did anything. But there is evidence that he did things based on statements from his son.

Certainly more than enough to warrant Congressional and criminal investigations.

    What was the ask?

With Trump it was pretty clear. In essence: “I’ll release this big beautiful aid, you do me a favor and give me this investigation my boy Giuliani is pushing”.

With Hunter it’s not clear, as his father was out of govt. There was no direct path to leveraging the govt even if he wanted to. Even assuming this chat is authentic, it comes off more as “do you know who I am, I know powerful people” type bluster… coming from an admitted crackhead.

His father was running for President (and ultimately won).

I think it's pretty obvious what kind of pressure he was exerting, but at this point I don't think you'll ever see it.

And even if you think my point of view is speculative, how can you possibly justify not thinking this warrants a closer look?

And we are back to : are you aware of what Joe Biden's influence was over a Pub White House, S enate and House? The nude photos may have been more enticing.

Biden announced his candidacy in 2019, two years later than this conversation happened. So, it's hard to construct a case where Hunter was using his father for leverage with China. OTH, Trump withheld military aid to an ally under threat from Russia, as POTUS, to extract a statement from Zelensky that he announce a bogus statement about his chief political rival. The phone call took place after Biden announced his candidacy. If Zelensky had relented in order to gain military aid, Trump could direct Barr to open an investigation. That is very direct and corrupt.

    No it's not.

People knew he was probably going to run before then. He was the favorite to win before he even announced he was running. And Hunter openly flaunted his father's power and influence to extort Chinese Oligarchs.

    Wasn’t the text from 2017?

Sounds to me like Hunter was annoyed he could no longer trade off being the son of the VP. Which may even be why his “trading partners” no longer wanted much to do with him as of 2017 (that and the fact he had become a junkie).

I don’t see a basis for additional investigations though. Isn’t that what’s already being covered here? The govt has looked at this and wants taxes paid (which surprise, surprise is what I predicted to be exact thing I’d bet they’d nail Hunter on, failing to pay taxes on some of his dealings). Republican politicians are flailing because once the plea deal is signed, it’s over.

Let’s put it this way, when the GOP caucus is banking so much on a mysterious whistleblower coming forward. Then it’s revealed that the mysterious whistleblower can’t come forward because they are dead (code for doesn’t exist), it’s time to admit you have been misled. Seriously, how many times you gonna let this guy get your hopes up?

I'm a blue blood Democrat, I did not know Biden was going to run and I never would have dreamed he would win the nomination at his age. He lost states in the primaries.

Besides that, can you really compare the two situations? You must deep down, recognize the difference.

Then open an investigation to find some evidence but the fact of the matter is there exists zero evidence today, only right wing hope, but that’s not the case with Trump. You’re the one who presented the comparison. Do you see how they are different now?

    Of course you don't.

Looks like this plea deal is just little fodder to the people pissed about the Trump indictment so the Justice Department can be like "see, we did something to Hunter too, even if we essentially got him on a speeding ticket after having found actual skeletons in his closet."

It's damage control because you had to do something.

The Whats App message from Hunter and emails from Hunter are evidence.

You can fail to see that all you want, it doesn't make it true.

Biden Would Beat Trump if 2020 Election Were Held Right Now
    From November 2017

Both involve the extortion of foreign actors using the power of a government official.

The fact that Trump's case involved a political opponent and an election is irrelevant as to whether the crime of bribery or extortion occurred in the case of Joe Biden.

With no indication that Joe was involved? You want him convicted on this? And you accuse others of not understanding 'evidence.'

One was a sitting POTUS, the other hadn't even announced a bid to run. One had the power to deny a country military aid, the other one didn't have any control or power of govt. How on earth can you equate these two situations?

Hunter Biden is not in govt, and Trump has not faced accountability for his Ukraine extortion so I don’t see the comparison. I know it’s tough to keep up with all Trumps criming, but he’s never been charged for Ukraine even though they literally have the phone call of his ask (as well as Giuliani’s ill fated pressure campaign against the Ukraine govt). We know exactly what that was. Is your point “Trump got off scott free for doing much worse, Hunter should to”?

The reality is political crimes are now borderline impossible to charge, and you can partly thank your conservative justices for that. Their views on political patronage have basically made open corruption legal. Not that the Trump case would be easy to bring as a criminal matter. *I* know it’s a crime, but I also think any competent lawyer can take that phone call and obfuscate enough about “Presidential powers” or “executive privilege” to win over a few jurors. In that case, i think his resignation would have sufficed if the GOP had the honor to demand it. Treat it similar to Nixon’s political crimes (actually a ton of similarities). Alas the vast majority of Republican politicians lacked any honor whatsoever, now here we are, and for all those claiming to wish Trump would go away, he’s your guy. The justices who legalized bribery are apparently themselves on the take as well, getting lavished with luxuries. But we are suppose to be highly concerned with Hunter Biden’s dealings? Lol. Yeah, ok guy.

What are they evidence of in reference to Joe Biden? That his son leveraged his name? There is no money for Joe. Show me Joe got money for doing a government favor. That would be evidence. His son being a douche is not evidence. Surly you know that but are totally butt hurt that Trumps a real crook and Biden has a douche bag son. Only one is illegal pal.

What happens if Mueller finds Trump fingerprints in Russia conspiracy?

"If Mueller’s report reveals a willingness by Trump to collude with Russia or contains evidence of direct coordination involving the Republican president, such findings could be the starting gun for the Democratic-led House of Representatives to launch the impeachment process set out in the U.S. Constitution to remove a president from office."

Trump could've been impeached for arrangements that began before his Presidency. Democrats just went with the easier pitch which was Ukraine.

Statements implicating Joe Biden in some extortion scheme with Chinese oligarchs by his son are evidence. You may not find them credible. I think a lot of people would disagree. But they are unquestionably evidence.
