I’ve never been freaked out either, but I’m not in my 80’s. I have however, found myself thinking how full of shit they are on multiple occasions.

Well we can’t dumb down weather forecasts for children or elderly people who might be afraid. Heck they shouldn’t even be watching the news if weather forecasts freak them out.

Don’t be so condescending. Elderly people and the young alike would naturally be more sensitive to this due to a reliance on others should something catastrophic happen.

It not condescending ,if they can’t handle it they shouldn’t watch. Reporting news isn’t about making people feel reassured. Well maybe if it’s FAUX NEWS…

You have to do that in Pensacola. Otherwise people would get in their cars and drive like maniacs, speeding and running red lights, while firing their guns in the air to show the scary weather that they aren't scared of it. No one wants that.

George Winterling, who spent almost 50 years as a respected and loved TV weatherman here in Jacksonville, died yesterday at 91. He made national news 12 years ago when Rush Limbaugh claimed that the heat index was a liberal media and government conspiracy to make it seem hotter than it is.
But Winterling had a key role in usage of 'humiture' , measuring comfort as a combination of heat and humidity, in the 1970s.

Thank you for the consideration but don’t worry. My mom could still handle someone like soho even at 89 years old. If he would have bothered to read he would have seen that I said that she called out of concern for me, not out of fear for herself.

How do we know that hurricanes are liberals? They spin everything to the left.

Was an AF meteorologist in the 60’s when humanity was happily pumping shit into the atmosphere, but we had no idea it was shit or of the ultimate consequences. We do now. The evidence is overwhelming of man made global warming. I have no hesitancy in asserting that anyone who believes otherwise is intentionally stupid. Now, if one wants to argue about what to do about it given the economic needs of working folks with families, that’s another matter.

I’m guessing you recall the clip from years ago where she was on the beach doing a live report and she almost came to tears….?

    I’m guessing you’re being sarcastic.
Seems like those “changes” might be within the accuracy of the measuring devices, which might just be a bit more accurate now compared to 40 years ago…
