Ya'll watch Fox more than me, but from everything I've heard from Tucker, he's just more of an isolationist Republican who doesn't think the US should be beholden to anybody.

And considering all of the Democratic simping for Ukraine these days, many of whom are more likely to display the Ukrainian flag than the American flag, I can see how that would look like support for Russia to them, but it's not.

tucker when he had the highest rated show on fox….

“I’m serious. Why do I care? Why shouldn’t I root for Russia? Which I am.”

(After a lot of backlash he later said he was joking - which was deemed sarcastic)

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene after the congresswoman spoke at a weekend event organized by a white nationalist who marveled over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as the crowd erupted in chants of “Putin!”

GOP torn as Greene speaks to far right amid 'Putin!' chants

“I went in yesterday and there was a television screen, and I said, ‘This is genius.’ Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine — of Ukraine — Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that’s wonderful,”

“He's taken over a country for $2 worth of sanctions. I'd say that's pretty smart.”

Well I guess Tucker made a joke, some White Nationalists chanted Putin, and Trump said Putin did something smart.

Conspiracy confirmed guys. The Republicans are in cahoots with the Rooskies.

It's closer to the truth that a lot of Democrats would rather display the Ukrainian Flag over the American Flag... than it is that a lot of Republicans support Russia.

I'm not moving the goalposts, I'm mocking you.

Not surprising you can't tell the difference.

It's illogical to me too, but I think some people feel for Russia and their dictator who is anti-gay and anti- multicultural.

Nobody has claimed it’s a “conspiracy” here (pertaining to Russia vs. Ukraine, although it should be obvious Russian intelligence continues to do whatever they can online). Nor would every person have to be a “paid agent”. That’s actually kind of the point of influence campaigns and propaganda. When a company is selling a product, it’s just called marketing. When a dictator is making a pitch…he’s selling something very different.

I’m not even saying a person being against the war puts them on one side vs. the other. Everyone should be against war in general terms. A lot of it has to to with how it’s being framed, if someone is taking aggressive anti-Ukraine stances (as many do online, and some of these public figures have done) rather than more general takes of ending the war that’s where you might question their loyalty, because at a point a position is so absurd it only comes off as pro-Kremlin propaganda. I’m sure some people are just being contrarian or too stupid to even recognize the garbage they are parroting, but if contrarian takes are going to put people so far out there they appear to be on the side of team Putin that’s on them.

Anybody who thinks Tucker is on Team Putin is so far gone that you shouldn't even bother trying to reason with them.

You are grossly misinformed. The hoped-for fall of Putin and collapse of the Russian war machine in Ukraine will be a victory for the whole of the American people, not just the Democrats. Sure, there are a couple of idiot Republicans who seem to be cheering for Russia just to hang another defeat around Biden, but they are a small minority. The overwhelming majority of Republicans support Ukraine to varying degrees. If there was one issue on which it was not necessary to be a partisan prick, I would say it was this one.

Your point is valid and the numbers mostly back it up.
Americans Hold Positive Feelings Toward NATO and Ukraine, See Russia as an Enemy
The problem is when you have national figures like Tucker, MtG and others publicly supporting him, it gives a skewed view of the party. If republicans care about how your party is viewed, help convince other republicans to stop supporting those morons.

Tucker's got a bit of track record here that should be considered in evaluating whether he was just making a joke.

I think this falls in line with the fact that Democrats are adamantly anti-Russia and Tucker has a generally isolationist view on foreign policy.

He just has this America-first philosophy, doesn't feel the need to explain himself, makes a living off of trolling the other side, and the other side happens to be adamantly pro-Ukraine and anti-Russia.

And I'm by no means the biggest Tucker fan. I just don't think that's an accurate characterization of his views.

He reportedly soured on the war in Iraq, and he may actually be more isolationist these days. He might genuinely oppose the U.S. getting involved in Ukraine, but he could have done so without his rants against Zelensky, his relative hesitance to say anything negative about Putin, or his praise for what's been going on in Hungary. Particularly given some of his messages which recently became public, it's hard to know when he's pandering to the audience versus expressing genuine opinions.
