I see at least two to three more transfers coming our way.

Agree. Need another catcher for sure and filling the shoes of Rivera, Langford, Sproat & Waldrep will be a major task. Heyman will take over for Riopelle, but we need more than just 1 back-up on the roster. It's always interesting to see how many of our high school signees get drafted and signed by MLB. We've got an excellent group of pitchers signed if we can hold on to most of them.

I don’t know anything about the coastal catcher. Do you think he will give Luke a run for his money? Surely he wouldn’t be coming here if he didn’t think he had a shot, right?

Get Kennedy Jones and one of Amick or Shelton and you've adreesed a lot of concerns

Luke is a stud player and the the top rated catcher in the state coming out of high school. He'll be in the lineup somewhere. Maybe the new guy can play another position and I'm sure there will be competition, but I can't imagine Heyman not being our catcher next year.

I've been hearing good news about this player. Here is his Clemson profile...

The "chatter" sounds good for the good guys in Orange and Blue.

    Billy Amick

He would be an awesome addition because he can, also, catch. An excellent hitter and infielder, but would provide that insurance behind the plate to Heyman and the Coastal Carolina transfer.

Here's the thing. We still need a first baseman when Cags is pitching and that will be Heyman. So who will catch for us if Heyman in on first base? Tanner Garrison?

There is chatter about another good player coming to Gainesville. Amick?

Don't forget the first half of the season BT caught for Sproat and Waldrep but Heyman was behind the plate much of the time for Cags. I would think Sully goes into the fall with Heyman and Cags working together on tempo. Amick was DH/1B at Clemson so he might fit in better at 1B when Cags pitches.

Amick will be a huge addition. And you are right about Heyman early in the season... BT was also pretty good at first base. Truth is, IMHO, I think Cags would be a great major league first baseman.

Maybe. Heyman may catch the whole weekend though once we get past the multiple weekday games and get into sec play. Just like bt did this year. Would think both of these guys are likely looking to play everyday next year. I figured the new guy must think he has a shot at unseating Luke. I think it’s unlikely. We need catchers, I’m glad he’s coming. Just wondering out loud what his expectations are. I understand nobody can really answer that, outside of Sully and Tanner though.
