For those who care, just saw some interesting 2nd Round projections from ESPN: 48. LA Clippers Keyontae Johnson | Kansas St. | SF | Age: 23.0 51. Brooklyn Nets Colin Castleton | Florida | C | Age: 23.0
Nice. Good to see Colin get some serious consideration. KJ was I believe projected mid 1st round before his collapse. I think whoever drafts him will be happy.
Agreed, I think he should go somewhere 20-25 at a minimum, but they really don't like 4 and 5 year guys. He does play the most coveted position in the league in that he's a 3 that can play the 4, and even shooting guard if needed, and can guard 4 positions.
I will be shocked if KJ goes in the first round and will not be surprised if he goes undrafted. The question with KJ is what position will he play. He is 6‘4“ and is not particularly fast. He’s strong as an ox, and is a tremendous leaper with good timing. He doesn’t seem to be quick enough to play the two. He might not be big enough to play the four. So, the question is, can he defend the 3.
I was a little unclear in my previous post, that was just my opinion on where he should be drafted. Being slotted to go mid second round means his odds of getting drafted are under 50%, and that height measurement yesterday did hurt his draft stock. However, I think his plus-plus wingspan, frame, and plus hops are enough to offset issues with footspeed-and that Key will be able to defend at the 3. Keyontae's certainly overcome a lot more than not being drafted so far in his young life.
KJ certainly has a chance to play in the NBA. He is about the same size as Josh Hart, who can play anywhere from the 2-4. However, Hart is quicker.
Don't think Keyontae could have landed in a better place-he's surrounded by a team of young prospects that are improving quicker than expectations and have a legit chance at making the playoffs this year. Moreover OKC is starting to get a real reputation for their draft smarts.
Only three centers have been picked so far: #1 7'5 220 C: Victor Wembanyama, France to San Antonio #12 7'2 215 C: Derek Lively II, Duke to Oklahoma City 2nd RD: #31 6'10 225 C: James Nnanji, Nigeria to Charlotte
Keyontae will join his former UF teammate, Tre Mann, with the Thunder. You are right, Oklahoma is slowly rebuilding their franchise.
Crazy to me how much the game has changed that a player with CC’s skill set doesn’t even get drafted anymore.. Would Noah get drafted now?

Well I don't know jack about how the NBA works but thats OK, I'm really not big into that league anymore. Pretty much all Gator in every sport. I live in Philly and do have interest in the Eagles, but slight if compared to UF. The Sixers? Considering where the "process" went and how they struck out on what seems like 1/2 dozen first rounders - I'm just not that big a fan. For my money I take Joker over Embid every day of the week and for a month of Sundays.
