I imagine, short of a last minute rescue, that 5he best fate for the crew was a hull failure resulting in immediate death. If those folks are still alive think about it. First - probably no food and perhaps no water. No bathroom. This was after all a less than 24 hour adventure. Then your in that situation packed together like sardines. I hope their fate was quick, the alternative is horrible to think about.
It’s sad for the 19 year old. I do have pity for the (3?) passengers, who likely were not aware of some of the issues engineers had raised or that the owner had a blasé take on safety and reliability. If the owner wanted to be his own test pilot that is one thing, but to offer this up commercially as he did should have never been allowed to happen given the previous issues and concerns. Makes you question the “space tourism” field to an extent as well, but I doubt you’ll find any of those guys on record saying essentially “safety is overrated”. At least their operations outwardly seem far more sophisticated, or in the case of Musk/SpaceX actually is competitive w/ NASA.
I wonder what the conversations between the owner and 4 passengers were like after they realized it was over (assuming it wasn't a quick end). Must have been pretty awkward. I imagine that if in the rare chance they were rescued today, they might only find 4 survivors...
No doubt that our Navy and CG, and that Canadian assets, consider this to be high stakes and real training for when we have to recover armed forces or similar govt assets at sea.
NPR reporting a debris field of some kind has been discovered near the titanic site. So far no positive ID.
Well they are doing a presser in a couple of hours so we will learn more. Titanic sub live updates: Search for missing submersible enters decisive phase - BBC News
Seriously? 5 ppl. are facing impending death, and it's somehow funny? I didn't bother with the rest of the poster on here, b/c my expectations are in the negative--but I honestly did expect a little more Christian humanity from you. (maybe it's just me (along with a scant handful of others it appears...), but I just don't see humor in this case. It's an unraveling human tragedy).
This is why the future is the Metaverse. There is no need for humans to experience death in exploration when it can be done with robots, sensors, and cameras and beamed into our brains.
