2023 College World Series Schedule/Scores/Discussion

The plate ump for LSU vs. Wake Forest was the most inconsistent and the worst I've seen since we played Virginia in 2015. The bats were taken from both teams, but a low scoring game favored Wake Forest. Don't get me wrong, I'm pleased LSU lost, but the plate ump made the game hard to watch. I hope this ump isn't behind the plate for any of our games.

 

My Father's Day gift from my son and his wife was a BT Riopelle shirt. I love everything about his story, esp. that, like so, so many of our student athletes, he'll be leveraging his degree from UF outside of competitive sports...like most of us!

 

I couldn't agree with you more. He was insanely inconsistent. I told my daughter's cat during the game that if I was either WF or LSU, I'd be LIVID!

 

The kid has passion, but also has his priorities in order. He'll be a great success in the business world.

It's win or go home time for LSU in the College World Series.

The Tigers took an early 2-0 lead on top-seeded Wake Forest on Monday night, but the Demon Deacons' top-ranked pitching staff kept LSU off the scoreboard in the latter innings as Wake scratched across three runs to win 3-2 and force the Tigers into an elimination game with Tennessee. The Volunteers, who eliminated Stanford 6-4 Monday, take on the Tigers at 6 p.m. on ESPN.

LSU had its chances but missed them, our Wilson Alexander wrote. Now the Tigers are in big trouble. To keep their national championship hopes alive, they'll have to beat the Volunteers again (LSU beat them 6-3 Saturday) then beat Wake Forest twice. Tall task, but LSU finds itself in the same spot it was in back in 2017, when the Tigers did navigate the loser's bracket to reach the final against eventual champion Florida.

 

Do you know where the shirt was purchased? A late Grandaddy Day present seems just fine for me.

 

He would only be behind the plate in the finals--if he is one of the 6 umps for that. We get the afternoon crew tomorrow and undecided crew (if two games on Thursday we play afternoon--if one game we would play the night game) if we have to play Thursday.

It's very nice. Can't wait for the Vols to get squeezed out so I can flash it in Knoxville, much to their chagrin.

 

I'm not a huge fan of many .250 hitters, but he has certainly earned my admiration.

 

To me, it seemed he called a lot of low balls strikes. I liked the umpire we had in our opening game; he seemed fairly consistent and I think he called out “low”, “high”, “outside” audibly so it could be heard. Not sure if all umps do that at the college level.

 

To my recollection he was all over the place...inside, outside, low...

To me anyway BT is both a scrapper and a leader—and it’s all natural instinct to him, not an assignment from anyone. Every single winning ball club I’ve ever been associated with has one. It’s been a pleasure to me to watch him become and be a Gator.

 

LSU already has a rematch with Wake listed for Wednesday on their online schedule, vols don't really count

My son received the Wyatt sherzey for HIS Father's Day gift. Glad we didn't jinx the guys Sunday night...though it was close!

 

Whoever has the best chance of beating WF on Wednesday.
