Of course. It is the right wing model of fact checking. Assert your desired version of reality that is most useful, then declare any fact/outcome that doesn't confirm that alternate reality as false
DOJ had to do something once House GOP began chirping about it, because they were trying to quash it altogether. DOJ did this to give an impression of impartial justice, but only because they were forced to and of course it's a slap on the wrist compared to what they are doing with Trump. That said, it still substantiates a few things: Joe Biden lied in the debate with Donald Trump that the laptop was a Russian hoax. Hunter Biden was indeed doing a lot of shady stuff. The plea deal is also sweetheart in that he likely won’t have to face stiffer charges on things they likely had him on. We’ll never know. Usually there are a lot more serious charges that come before a plea deal.
The tax charges were quite serious and buoy Trump’s request for Zelenskyy to investigate Biden. He hid $1,500,000 in income over a two-year period from the IRS, presumably from Burisma. I wonder what would happen to us if we did that? And why hide the income?
Spit out my coffee again. Dang it Tilly, I can't handle humor this early on a political board. Love that post.
Hunter hid $1,500,000 in income from the IRS in 2017 and 2018, which is a lot higher than previous figures I had seen thrown around. Hunter Biden to plead guilty to tax-related misdemeanor crimes
This would be a lot more interesting if Hunter ended up with serious jail time. Would Joe give up a 2nd presidential bid to pardon Hunter on the way out after his term ends? I think he'd get killed politically if he pardoned Hunter while running for re-election. Doesn't seem to be much need to take the heat of a pardon under this circumstance though.
If only he had committed a lot more crimes of greater severity -- some rape, some extortion, a few violations of the espionage act, some election tampering, for starters-- then maybe he could be the Republican front runner for 2024... Biden vs Biden...
I think it was a mistake for Joe Biden to respond to Trump in the debate about Hunter’s laptop. It would have been best if Biden just said “I don’t want to comment on an ongoing investigation involving my son…” or something to that effect. By claiming the laptop was a Russian plant, he undercut his credibility on all of this. We’ll see if the media hits him on that.
The New Yorker ran this long form in 2019. It was obviously invited and prompted by the campaign to get this out to both test the reaction and also to "immunize" the campaign against later revelations by getting in front. It's long, but was very frank that Hunter had significant addiction problems, public infidelity and attempted sale of the family name, mostly triggered by a spiral after the loss of his brother. Very little that has come out in the four years since has added anything to what was in this article. Very little. Most of the attempted spin into larger sandal has been based on willful or ignorant misunderstanding of the West and Russia's role in Ukrainian politics The Lives and Losses of Hunter Biden
Hunter had a potential defense to that charge ironically based on some "out there" case law regarding the 2A, Bruen. The Government has motivation to offer a favorable deal rather than litigate the point.
Agree, for anyone who wants a true picture of Hunter Biden and his life, good and bad, this paints an accurate picture. He broke the law on gun background check as an addict, misdemeanor tax evasion, and his life choices haven't been the best. However, it's clear the house GOP has their work cut out for them in creating a political parody to hurt Joe.
Marketing idea for maga rallies: have him stand on the stage while a kangaraoo court at the rally tries, convicts, and sentences him... think of the ratings! (only the effigy gets hanged though).
