I’ve longed believe that high level coaching is a young man’s game. The pressure, the growing expectation, the stress from recruiting, admin, parents, nil, transfers etc… can destroy a marriage, personal health, motivation etc… how often do we see very good coaches crash and burn in their personal life often because their professional life consumes every bit of them. I hate Saban but he has managed to stay out of the negative press while maintain a highly competitive program. As has Dabo Sweeney. We will see if Smart can maintain his refectory without giving in to the pressure.

Competitiveness drives young coaches to the highest level but doesn't necessarily make them happy. If you want a career and life of stability, coach at a low-to-mid-major or Division II school. Unless you're terrible, you can coach at one place for decades and retire when ready. Most pay well and your kids can have one home as they grow up.
Money ain't everything. At least that's what I hear. I wouldn't really know since I've never had any.

Money ait' everything, but it sure makes up for a lot. They say money is one of the main things married couples argue about, but since my wife and I never argue about money, I guess we have enougn not to argue about it.

This is his second DUI as a coach. Had one when coaching at Cincinnati. Dissappear into sunset and go out with some class. Quit being a scumbag.
