The NCAA needs to stay in their lane.

Why not just not test for anything? Let them ruin themselves with their newfound nil money if they want.

NCAA now trying to usurp federal laws, and state laws too? What a crap show. Maybe they can hire better football referees and train them better instead trying to out kick their authority.

It's not against the law to have cannabis in your system.

There is no federal law that says you can't play football if you smoke weed, and it's legal in a bunch of states now, and isn't a PED, so I think it's a good decision..

It's not the NCAA's or school's business if a student-athlete has marijuana in their system.

No, but "WEED" is still NOT legal in all 50 states. They need to work on fixing the parts of sports that are failing (bad refereeing and umpire-ing and making better rules in sports in general) and not worry about state's rights on drugs.

If they don't want to force weed tests then fine, but just because the NCAA tacitly approves it doesn't mean that states, schools/universities and coaches will follow the NCAA... the NCAA has no real authority to mandate NO testing.

I know you're an advocate of it, Strange, and I have no problem with fully grown adults from doing anything they want to themselves. But student athletes live by whatever rules their coaches demand. That does not cover you, my friend. So... party on brother Strange. :D

While I don't smoke pot this does level the situation across the country where it is legal in some states but not in others. I can see a situation where a student athlete goes home to colorado and partakes then goes back to school in Mississippi with it in his system and tests positive.

Think of all the suspended Gator athletes over the years that have missed games and maybe even contributed to losses while our opponents and rivals were burying drug test results or cheating so key players would not get suspended...I look at this as another equalizer so teams that don't adhere to rules can't have an advantage over schools that do.

Are we comparing weed with “everything”? Lol. Ok bud. I don’t see you griping about the painkillers and booze that runs rampant through sports… but let a kid try something less harmful then all the sudden we turn into DEA Dave over here? Hahaha. It’s 2023.

Thank you. I am not engaging with the Too Hot crowd. Maybe they will wander back over there.
