Piercings, eh, not really a fan of them. Plus the hole in your ear, no thanks. Besides, I'm implying real change. If you all think I'm so wrong about everything then you're saying I should change right? That I should somehow evolve? What if someone doesn't know how to evolve?
I genuinely don't understand the sock reference. Am I supposed to? I said this was my final thread. I never said I wasn't going to respond to posts on it.
You insinuate that liberals have masterminded a takeover of the country and say you'll take joy in watching them lose everything. Then you say maybe you should beat liberals at their own game by quitting your job and just going on the government dole and also critique others for not being sufficiently empathetic. Will you also take joy in watching conservatives losing everything? What is their level of responsibility, particularly given that they have the political power in most states as well as the highest Court in the land? How do we get to such a horrible place when every single President except one has been a White man? I feel like your series of complaints contain various internally inconsistent themes such as portraying liberals as the elites running the show or the lazy who just want to hang out and be unproductive. Apple pie is overrated IMO but pre-dated America in any event. I'm not sure how many uniquely American foods there are but even foods like Cajun and Creole were the result of a mix of various cultures and ethnic traditions. Same with our language and music. I think there are some things our culture can be criticized for, but you seem all over the map.
I worked mostly in Asia. The Asians might be more racist than you are. They don’t just dislike whites and blacks. They also dislike other Asians.
Good idea but wrong geographically. He laments the lack of white people emigrating to African countries. I think the implication is clear.
Exposure. I think one of the greatest gifts of my life was being exposed and talking to people of all races, ethnicities, income, etc at a young age. I'm way more comfortable talking to working class folks than country club folks, even though I grew up in the latter. Once I understood that all people have hopes, dreams, fears, loves, it makes it almost impossible not to have empathy for them and see them as nothing more than a fellow human, going through the same shit we all are. From a political stand point, for example, I understand the fears of someone such as yourself. I get where it's coming from. But ultimately both of us want what is best for ourselves, our loved ones, the country. I'm not your enemy. You aren't my enemy. We just see things differently and have different views of what makes this county great.
The only way to change is to fake it till you make it. Eventually your mind will catch up to your actions.
That is very true. And yet there is no pressure on Asian countries to accept more diversity. Again answer the question, why are white countries the only ones where they is pressure to diversify. If diversity is truly strength wouldn't every country want to diversify? I will say I love Japanese and South Korean culture. Honestly I think I would've fit in better in those countries than here in the U.S. A unified homogenous culture that respects traditions, elders and cohesiveness over the "every man for themselves" mentality we have here in the U.S.
Countries aren’t always rational actors. I also don’t understand what you mean as pressure to diversify. I think a liberal and free press might be the answer.
Everyone knows states have relatively little power anymore. The Federal Government is where the power is at and Liberals essentially control 2/3 of the Federal Government never mind the FBI, DOJ, CIA, DOD, ED and all of the other unelected 4th branches of government. You act like white men are the reason this country is in a horrible place. Let me ask you this, find me one black country that has ever been successful and prosperous for a long period of time. Find me one Hispanic country that has ever been successful and prosperous for a long period of time. So by that standard I could argue there's never been a successful black or hispanic leader of a country. Maybe we should go the Asian route since Asian countries do relatively well. I would be okay with that. I actually agree with you about Apple Pie. I know it's about as American as it comes but I'm not a pie person in general except for Key Lime Pie. Tried Apple Pie once, didn't care for it at all. And yes it is ironic you mention Cajun and Creole food as that is some of my favorite foods. I do enjoy a good seafood etouffee or crawfish boil. I didn't say all things immigrants brought in were bad. But when we live in a society that only highlights the differences, what is one common thing Americans uniquely have in common? What's the one thing that long term you think will truly keep the U.S. together and prevent it from utterly failing and breaking apart?
I'm sure you're probably right. But if there's a small chance he's serious and could hurt himself or someone else, I feel like maybe it's worth the risk. Moreover, there may be others reading what he's posting, and spreading these sorts of ideas is a goal for some to recruit others. I have struggled many times with whether engagement is helpful or counter-productive. But this is a message board, and I'm not important or giving anyone a bigger platform. Maybe wasting my time at worst. Also, part of me is a little interested in the psychology of it even assuming he's not trolling. I'm currently reading Twilight of Democracy by Anne Applebaum, and none of this is new as others have pointed out above. Some people - and it happens on the left as well - have a fear or dislike of change and an increasingly complicated world.
Even you can't be naive. Every white country (U.S., Canada, New Zealand, Australia, most of Europe) is forced to embrace diversity. Diversity is pushed down our throats. All the things about "we have to embrace diversity, diversity makes us stronger, we have to be more diverse". Even in the media they try to force diversity down the throats of majority white countries. Why is the same not done for other countries? Why does the media not criticize Japan and South Korea for their lack of diversity? Where's the criticism of Brazil, Argentina and Mexico for their lack of diversity?
Wow, glad I saw this before I replied. sorry to hear that. Maybe taking a break from message boards is a good thing. They can cause frustration regardless what “side” you’re on. I hope your health improves and that you can find peace.
I don't think White men have made this a horrible place. First, I don't think this is a horrible place. Second, I'm a White man and don't hate myself. I like America despite our challenges. What I was pointing out is that you feel powerless as a White man but White men have and continue, even now, to run things for the most part. How did they make it to positions of leadership and you I have not? I don't know if the U.S. will make it long term or not. We've only been around a couple hundred years - the blink of an eye for humanity.
But what if those different views are incompatible with each other? Then that means for one view to prevail the other view has to be completely subjugated. Let's take the long game for a minute. Let's say you all are right and Donal Trump destroys the Republican party and that leads to one party rule (Democrats). Let's say Democrats win all National Elections and even start winning a fair amount of state elections. You are essentially subjugating 40% of the population (of all races) to second class status. That 40% will know they truly aren't represented and their views (no matter how moderate or sensible) will never be given any chance. Do you really think an economic zone (country) has a chance to stand long term when 40% of the population knows they aren't represented at best and perhaps even despised at worst by their government? You say expose yourselves to others and people not like you. Why is the burden always on us? I don't see Hispanics going out of their way to talk to white people. Heck most of them here in Orlando will bury themselves in enclaves like Kissimmee, Buenaventura Lakes and Poinciana and never leave except to work. They sure as heck aren't trying to expose themselves to people not like them. I'm not against meeting others that aren't that much like me, but it always feel like the burden is on me and never on them. You seem like a reasonable poster and I agree with some of your statements. Sadly there are some on your side who are anything but reasonable. And I would say there are people on my side who are anything but reasonable as well. And right now those who are unreasonable are the ones controlling politics.
