I think all of us are anxious and legitimately concerned. The future of the softball program is in the balance and silence right now is scary, not golden. Coach Walton has earned the trust of Gator Nation, but what he does over the next several weeks is very critical and we all recognize that. No pitching coach, only 2 freshman pitchers and 4 position freshmen on the roster with 8 returning players. No matter how good these 14 are, that leaves us with a lot of holes to fill from the portal. And when you see quality players hit the portal and then get snatched up by other schools, it does make us wonder, as Marvin Gaye sang, "What's Goin' On?"
Very nicely stated. With the pitching situation last year not solidly addressed, it at least opens the door for apprehension with the acquisition status now. I’m leaning to CTW already having this basically sorted and secured, with announcements to come.
Kudos for the Marvin Gaye reference. Hoping to hear something through the grapevine sooner than later.
This is what I'm telling myself. If I can survive the 2023 season, I can survive waiting a while for the announcement of the pitching coach.
Jen left Florida on July 18.. so he hired Bosch within 9 days. So maybe it is good he's taking a little time to get things right this time.
Nobody was going to fill Jens shoes, that’s an unreasonable ask but Bosch in my humble opinion was pretty bad. I’m glad CTW is taking his time. This is a decision that has to be gotten right.
The best most talented high school pitching prospects in the country are at the end of the day high school kids. Raw talent only goes so far. Need a great pitching coach to develop and evolve them over their career.
That said along with the rest of you I’m super excited about the incoming classes the next two years. Pitchers especially because such an obvious weakness the last two seasons but honestly the whole class I’m excited about.
I hated the Bosch pick up from day one. He's a math professor that lucked into a couple coaching gigs. Then got fired by Syracuse.. I never understood Tim thinking.. hmm this guy just got fired from Syracuse, I bet he can help out my pitchers. Really?? Lol
CTW is a living legend in softball but he’s still human and susceptible to mistakes from time to time. I still have the upmost confidence and faith in him. Rather than freaking out I’m just super excited to see who our next pitching coach is! Also feel free to tag this post because it might not age well depending on the hire lol.
Reports coming out that Wichita State is getting a new pitching coach in Courtney Oliver. The pitching staff has done well under Presley Bell their cuuurent (guess now former) pitching coach. Would think Bell is moving on elsewhere.... could be us?
That is interesting because Wichita State is where Tim had his first head coaching job before coming to Florida.
And you know, there's no Sympathy for the Devil; because I see a red door and I want to paint it Blue & Orange. Come on Tim give us something. Lol
