Anybody can critique in hindsight. You ever work your ass off on something that didn’t turn out right?
So just keep throwing more money on the pile every time daddy ups the ante? You want to give this greedy family more than we settled with Lagway? It’s a miss alright but it’s their miss not ours. Think about it — a 25 kid who can reclassify to 23 indicates a value for academics. Ole Miss over UF? Not a chance. On top of that, he reclassifies to 23 so he can sit on the bench in Oxford instead of competing with Mertz for playing time this year in Gainesville? Nothing makes $en$e except the money. Big mistake and while greedy dad counts his winnings Austin will likely have buyer’s remorse. His loss not ours Turn the page and grab a top TE and a top DL out of Georgia — works for me
And Ole Miss has what, THREE QBs on the roster more highly rated than Austin? Disappointed to lose him. But honestly shocked Ole Miss could beat our deal, esp at a position where they have such a backlog and we have virtually nothing (today).
You are correct in your assessment. But this one does sting. We needed him...today. and he's from FL and has been ours for a while. Sucks that Lane could swoop in and steal him away with a fat NIL deal. Esp since, as you said, it'll be a while before he sees the field.
At Middleburg or Ridgeview? If you were close, you may have knkwn Tippy Roberts...huge Gator fan and his JH principal who was like a mother to him. I knew Alan through a close friend from Middleburg, but i went to OPHS.
Maybe...but whatever the specifics were, Ole Miss gave a better deal to what will be their 4th string QB than we apparently could/would to what would prob at least be our backup this year and possibly starter next year. Ole Miss. That should not happen. I don't buy the "Florida wanted Lagway" line. They have 3 more talented guys ahead of him in Oxford.
You look more whiny ass complainer than stupid. We all see the same things you do. We just aren’t so negative like a naggy ass woman.
What about the "Florida's schedule is too tough" line? That was pretty telling. I want competitors and that jerk just threw his kid under the bus. Everyone should also remember, modern NIL has 2 parts: (1) regular NIL and (2) up-front "buy-off" $$$. Florida does as well as any program in the country now in #1, taking care of our kids who are Gators, but doesn't get into bidding wars for #2. Period. I also don't think Coach Napier puts a lot of time and worry into finding jobs for a daddy who has his hand out . . . no matter the position.
Yeah, that was weird. And seemed disingenuous, like the Lagway line. But I don't hink we're at a point where people will say the obvious - Ole Miss gave me a better deal!
I don’t work for people who are too fixated on money. I’m kind of expensive and if they want a bid and are worried about how much it costs, they usually can’t afford me. Qbs are expensive too, but once the price is established, daddy can’t keep wanting more. Make a deal and both sides stick to it. Extra demands and back and forth is bs.
Make a deal and stick with it. I don’t care if it’s $100 k or $13 mil. You don’t keep coming back for more. Shake a man’s hand and that’s the end of it.
His daddy said it best, our schedule is brutal and if his son did play would probably get his ass handed to him as a freshman. Still can't believe he showed his cards amd showed such a weakness with that statement.
