That was lots of fun. Sproat was masterful until he ran out of gas. And who was this Ty Evans guy at the plate? Did Virginia make too many pitching moves and then got stuck with their only lefty?
I'm so happy for Evans... especially after that last outting in the outfield. But he made up for it at bat.
Did Langford get warned by the umpire after his homerun? I ask because he showed a lot of emotion and didn't begin going to first right away. He gestured toward the Gator dugout, it wasn't directed towards the other team. I am not saying that he deserved to be warned, only curious.
I love it when we move from Sully pitching moves to opposing team pitching moves. You know it’s a good night on this board.
Just wanted to say that I love this! And you were right on! If this team hasn't earned anything else, they've earned the respect for them having a fight till the end! Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
Just read this interesting little factoid: The VA reliever that gave up 3 Gators homers in 1 2/3 innings had previously allowed 3 home runs in 48 2/3 innings.
And UVA hadn't lost a game all year when they went to the eighth inning with the lead. So, I'll admit I was wrong. The game went just like 7 scripted it.
To me it looked like he had that "we haven't lost this game yet" look. Almost tears of joy by tying the game up...
Lol... Yeah, that coach is getting smoked all over the place for his move to keep his pitcher in. And before that I was wondering why Sully left Sproat in when he was missing the plate so often. He stayed in one half inning too long, IMHO. But... as they say, all's well that ends well.
I thought Sully handled Sproat appropriately. And feel bad for Fish in that spot… but he’s been reliable through the post season. In inexplicable moments like that I just say …”well, it’s baseball”.
