Day one Lagway ranked 7th https://247sports.com/college/footb...ter-Day-1-via-event-coaching-staff-211578953/
Just so everyone is clear on the nonsense going on . . . Lagway being "ranked #7." From the SI article: Florida Gators quarterback commit DJ Lagway shined on day one of the Elite 11 Finals on Wednesday evening. As the first signal-caller to step off the star-studded bus of competitors, Lagway immediately made his presence felt as the 6-foot-2, 225-pounder presented a noticeably imposing frame while leading the pack onto the Redondo Union High School field. The presence continued to loom as the night rolled on. He affirmed the praise he's garnered as a 2024 prospect with his presentation during the group passing drills portion of the three-day event. * * * Showcasing his elite arm talent at a high clip, the Willis (Texas) native not only produced in the accuracy department but performed with noticeable poise and confidence throughout the evening. He quickly nixed some of the questions regarding his consistency in the camp setting and earned Sports Illustrated FanNation's Top Performer award. From the 247 article: The Elite 11 staff doesn't just take camp performance into account with these rankings. The majority of its evaluation comes from film, another portion is how the player produced during his most recent junior season and the staff also takes into account QB "traits." Camp performance is about a 25% of a factor, per the staff.
I think SI wrote a puff piece for everyone there. https://www.si.com/college/ohiostat...ir-noland-top-5-elite-11-on3-247sports-rivals
Lagway finished 10th overall . With Julian taking MVP and Raiola taking second. Unfortunately for Lagway this is more a pure passer type competition and doesn’t take into factor his running capabilities. I still think athletically he’s still top 3 overall. What really matters is what happens under the lights.
Not sure about that. From what I recalled, Tebow did pretty well at the Elite 11 camp. I was able to find this…he won Most Competitive while Stafford won MVP. https://www.elite11.com/2005elite11
Scroll to the bottom of that list and check out the regional finalist. Every one of them went on to the NFL( that group included Sam bradford, greg McElroy, Andy Dalton, colin kaepernick, among others) but the the 12 QB's who competed in the elite 11 final national competition only half (6) went on to the nfl, and only a few of them had a lot of success at the college level. So it sn't always a great indicator of future success.
Interesting. Possibly shows who was at their ceiling coming out of high school or made a poor college decision and didn't get coached up properly. 2006 John Brantley was MVP, Nick Foles and Cam Newton were regional finalists and Russell Wilson was on the notable list.
So the article that "ranked" Lagway #7 was akin to what passes as journalism but the piece that spoke about how well he did was a puff piece? LOL!
I would not say that, but I would love the see the entire competition on video. Can you find that and post it for us? You know these judges are like college players in some respects... Some of those judges might have one opinion before lunch then get a "happy meal" and come back with a completely different opinion on who performed the best.
I wouldn’t call it a useless camp but over the years it sure hasn’t been indicative of future success. The thing that stood out to me the most, after reading everything, is that DJ was clearly the alpha dog throughout the event by all accounts. I just have a feeling that kid will own the locker room when he gets to G’ville.
When it comes to rankings, certain programs feed these analysts and you need to take care of your base. If I survive based on subscription revenue and half my subscriptions are Bama and UGA, you best believe I’m not alienating my base that feeds me. That is likely why you see certain players get bumps after committing to certain programs. Unless you have an understanding of subscriptions per college to these sites, you can’t judge undue influence or bias. Whenever I look at placements, I always am skeptical because I can’t understand the relationship of those providing the ranking to others
This ^^ how is it a comparison if your Wr have been running routes all day and you go last almost 4 hours later? The guys are gassed and they think the timing is going to be the same ? This literally makes no sense
