All I have read is that he has family ties in South Carolina, a sister I think.

Yep, I’m aware that he’s from Florida, and I’d love to see him playing for our Gators, just trying to be aware of all of the possibilities/hurdles we may face to land him.

Yep, right down the road. Worry would be I believe he and Petrey played pretty near (32 miles) each other in HS and May know each other real well from travel ball and competing locally. Love to see him in lineup w Cags.

He (Shelton) had a terrible year in the field but was rated the #4 SS in Florida so maybe he would field better at short. I played short but during BP sometimes I would setup at 3rd and 2nd. It is amazing how different the ball comes at you compared to short.
Saw he was originally committed to Clemson. No denying his impact with the bat.

This might come in handy when understanding who transfers out. Got this off of 247. You can only take 27 so somebody has to stay home. Interesting that Lastres goes but not Alvarez even though both are in the portal. No Tejeda of course but no Orroyo as well. Kind of surprised that Jameson was selected. Makes me wonder if they still have hope he can turn it around next year. Coppola, Clemente, Sloan, and Blair have not been available so they are understood. No Ursitti, Finnvold, both in the portal but no Max Brown.

Coppola has been in the dugout throughout the NCAAs, very involved in the game, one of the first out of the dugout to cheer on his teammates. That seems a good answer to any portal concerns for him. Rehab is another story and I hope he's healthy for next year, or even for fall practice.

I've noticed that as well all thru the tourney at home and in Omaha. I guess they don't count the injured players as long as they are not in uniform.

Some stats on incoming transfer Kelly Austin for last year.

    Whip 1.26

11.4 Strike outs per 9 innings

    2.8 walks pet 9 innings

    Batters averaged 2.29 against him.

I think we got a good one.

We sure did. LSU picked up his former teammate Thatcher Hurd this year.

Hoping for 1-2 big bats to replace Josh and Wyatt.

I’m going to have to say where is the “we’ll have to wait and see” emoji when you need it—between both back and TJ rehabs he is dealing with difficult times.

Added catcher Tanner Garrison to the roster list. Here's some details....
    https://247sports.com/college/flori...al-catcher-tanner-garrison-coastal-211802696/
"While Garrison's offensive capabilities have impressed dating back to the start of 2022 summer-league play, it's his defense that makes him such a compelling addition to Florida's roster. Garrison was the top-ranked catcher in Division I in pitch framing in 2023 and threw out 14 would-be base stealers in just 38 appearances, making him one of the best defensive players to join the Gators in recent years."

Does this make 3 or 4 incoming transfers with 2 catchers.

I think the only other transfer besides Garrison is UCLA pitcher Kelly Austin. We do have a pitcher/1st baseman, Caden McDonald, who recently flipped from UCF to UF. So far we have 5 players leaving via the transfer portal and a highly rated incoming freshman class with no catchers in it. O'Sullivan still has work to do in the portal after the season ends.
