In typical labor law, you are not paid for driving from home to your normal workplace. However, if you are asked to drive somewhere out of the ordinary, it should be on the clock and subject to mileage reimbursement.

    And your point is…..?

Biden opposed her, but he said Biden publicly pronounced that the first black woman on the Court had to be a Democrat. That was the point I was disputing. Everything you quoted supports what I said.

And yet, Bush never nominated her. Instead, he nominated Harriet Miers. After her nomination failed, he nominated Alito. And the attempt to filibuster Alito failed. So the point remains.

Wait! Harriet Miers was nominated and didn’t get confirmed? What hypocrites those Dems are to block a woman! What other explanation could there be?

Agree with both points....It has to be that. I think he is a bottom of the 40 man guy at best and is just a stop gap while other guys garner more AB's and seasoning.

This has nothing to do with DeSantis, but it shows the problematic mindset too many cops have:
Orlando cop charged after fleeing Seminole traffic stop

Orlando cop gets caught by Seminole Sheriff Deputy doing 80 in a 45. When he finally pulls over (after being basically forced to), he is outraged at the idea that he'd get pulled over for speeding on his way to work, refuses to hand over his license, and drives off.

That's at least felony fleeing to elude, a third degree felony (max 5 yrs prison.) If Orlando cop hits the same speeds leaving, it's high speed fleeing to elude, a second degree felony (15 yrs.) Mandatory adjudication if convicted, no withholds and a minimum one year up to 5 year driver's license revocation. Orlando cop is out of a job.

The “I like political donations from lobbyists” principal.

Corruption Rules!!! But does it have to be so obvious?

I read today that DeSantis said if he wins the presidency, he will dismantle the effectively dismantle the DOJ because it has “become politicized.”

He then gave an example of what he’d do — fire all “of the progressive prosecutors.”

Am I the only one that is horrified by that gross hypocrisy ?!?! How much more weaponizing of the administration can it be than to fire anyone with an opposing political party proclivity?!?!?!

DeSantis is letting everyone know, up front, that anyone with an opposition voice OR BELIEF has no role in any level of his government. None.

He is a scary, scary man.

Capping on to a recent speech by DeSantis, he is on record stating that Trump’s three appointed Justices ARE TOO LIBERAL. The only ones he thinks have any merit are Thomas and Alito, and when he is in office, he will only pick judges that match his “gold standard” on conservatism.

For anyone that values rights and self-freedom, this is horrifying.

It may not be that whiny voiced, go-go boots wearing dwarf In Tallahassee (Duh-Santis) doing the actual evicting, but you can be sure he’s the one who will be held responsible, and he should be. One can only wonder what the next injustice will be inflicted on the residents of this state in the name of his “war on Woke.”

It may seem weird, but there is sometimes animosity between county cops and city cops (and it’s well known local cops often feel resentment towards feds coming in on big investigations). If they were both part of the same “tribe” he probably gets let go. But the fact that a county sheriff gets to turn in an Orlando PD criminal isn’t super surprising. The Orlando officer obviously doesn’t give him much choice by being a giant lawbreaking asshole.
