For those who think Trump is stupid, that’s not it. He took $2B from assassins in exchange for confidential data and his choices are Biden’s jail or Saudi’s bone saw death.
I think the deference he anticipated getting as a candidate figured into trump’s decision to announce his candidacy very early on. I think he was the first. Well, that and the chance to con his supporters of more of their social security money.
You have about a 100% wrong in some aspect posting history. It's impressive. Federal judge assignments are on a rotation. There was a better than normal chance that Cannon would be drawn because of the availability of the other judges in the rotation, but it was not a certainty.
I agree trump would not have been indicted for taking the docs if he had returned them all upon initial request (or even the subpoena). He gets the benefit of doubt for his staff "accidentally" packing them or being ignorant of the law. The lack of indictments on those returned documents is evidence of that. All comparisons between trump and Biden+Pence ends upon the failure to comply. The lying, obstruction, false statements and destruction of grand jury evidence are all uniquely his crimes. They are egregious and unbecoming a trusted public servant.
There’s a real world cost to electing a sociopathic narcissist to office and letting him flagrantly break the law with no recourse. It renders laws obsolete and the agencies tasked with enforcing them are declawed. It sets an absolutely terrible precedent for what will be tolerated with regards to classified/sensitive information from the highest office. Im just not sure what y’all expected the DOJ to do after reading that indictment. Just sit there and ignore it because he’s a lock for the GOP nomination?
That’s because he’s an idiot who didn’t take the get out of jail free card that was repeatedly handed to him. Nobody to blame but himself.
Trump violated the conditions of his bond with his illegal fundraiser last night. The cost to dine with Trump was $100k with proceeds going to his Super PAC. The cap for that kind of donation is $5k. He's not allowed to violate any kind of law and remain out on bond.
I truly do not know. I’m not a legal expert, but I do know enough to see there’s been preferential treatment and then there is an obvious effort to keep him from winning another election. What’s interesting is if he did win in 2024, all of this becomes null and void by default, right?
While I haven’t looked specifically at the Trump campaign’s FEC compliance, I suspect this is either an over-simplification or, if they are doing it correctly, not true. The $5k contribution limit applies to traditional PACs (those that make contributions to other political committees). A true Super PAC (what, in its proper name, would be called an “independent expenditures only committee”) can solicit unlimited donations. Fundraising coordination between a federal candidate and a true Super PAC can be a somewhat thorny issue, but the FEC’s guidance is that a candidate can directly solicit donations to a Super PAC if those donations are treated in the same way fundraising for a traditional PAC would be (ie $5k contribution limit and subject to source restrictions), but a candidate can also attend or speak at a fundraiser at which true unlimited Super PAC donations are being solicited by the committee, so long as the candidate is not soliciting those donations. In practice that’s kind of nonsense, but looks something like, for example, the candidate showing up and saying “I would really appreciate your $5k,” then the candidate leaving and the Super PAC fundraisers saying “$100k would be even better.”
I am done trying to educate you on these things. You lack the education, intellect and, most importantly, the temperament to learn.
This is correct but not even counting the fact that State Department policy at the time was that the employees themselves got to choose what was personal and were to only retain emails for business matters. This will fall on deaf ears to the morons who believe right wing media though.
