A little simplification on my part but the point is belt high fastballs go for joy rides

 

Hitters will time up a 4 seamer .. trust me , I’m exhibit A

 

We need a knowledgeable and experienced emoji for that one. HA

 

Gator alum looking for 1 ticket for finals.

 

A belt high over the middle fourseam fastball is batting practise if the batter is sitting dead red.

A mistake two seamer in the same location is a mistake if they are looking fastball, but still might be a lucky pitch that is fouled off especially if the batter was looking for something else.

It is hard to take a single pitch out of context. What would be a terrible pitch in one situation would be a great pitch in a different situation.

And a belt high fastball when the batter is looking change up or curve is an awesome pitch.

I would elevate it more, though.

My statement was in context of 1st inning pitches to get ahead in the count which for the most part in early innings…..was a fastball. Fastballs in first 2 innings against South Carolina. The coaching staff mixed it up with Waldrep….. First time in 5 games against SC that they didn’t score in the 1st two innings against us this year.
No one is arguing certain pitches in certain circumstances can be effective
