"I know for me I am ready to lay down everything to protect and support Donald Trump and more importantly what he stands for."

You're not going to do jack shit outside of posting on a message board or maybe burning a couple of couches.

He appeals to their fears. Legitimized their phobias and victim mentality for their own shortcomings. Dictator tactics 101.

This thread is the perfect example.

It's crazy. There is 10% super nuts on each side, then another 10% on each side that are out there but not fanatical. Not sure why one poster saying something stupid garners this much attention.

To me Trump to the Republican Party is like Rush Limbaugh’s health problems. He’d say “Damn it I like my cigars and no one is going to tell me I can’t smoke them wherever I want.” Enter terminal lung cancer.

There’s one fairly obvious reason Trump remains so popular, and why none of the other candidates can duplicate it. Trump is entertaining to them, and who doesn’t want to be entertained?

Nixon was never convicted, was he? I didn't think he was even indicted.

That may be true jj, but I think there is something else going on as well. I think there is a group of people in this country, and I would say they are mainly middle age, that were raised and grew older with little in the way of manners, discipline and empathy. And to be clear, I believe this is the case for people on the right and the left. The difference is the people on the right, that fit into this group, are more aggressive by nature. So, take a more aggressive, forceful personality type, mix it with a lack of manners and self discipline, and you get the hardcore Trump supporter. That's my theory.

If the Republican Party were a human body I would say the people you’re talking about would be associated with the anal sphincter and lies in the cleft between the buttocks, through which fecal matter is extruded.

There's certainly some truth to that. I read a piece by a sociologist who was talking to voters before the 2016 election. What she kept seeing among people who said they were planning to vote for Trump was this: They were white guys who felt like they couldn't assume the stature and stability, if not success, that their fathers had. Their fathers had secure jobs, unions, pensions ... they were automatically at the top of society because they were white guys with decent jobs.
They didn't see that coming to them, so they figured it was women, minorities and immigrants that must be taking it from them. Trump was going to get it back.

But I think it goes back further. I think a good sized percent of the right simply wants someone who will insult the people they want insulted. Even if they don't accomplish anything, as long as they insult. And that's certainly Trump.

Have you read the indictment? Seriously, have you read the indictment? If not, where do you get your information.

Even his staunchest supporters recognize he was wrong; they just deflect and say what about Hilary.

Do you appreciate what Trump is accused of?
Do you appreciate the efforts made to get Trump to comply with the requests to return the documents?
Do you appreciate the levels of efforts by Trump to lie, lie again, conceal, and lie again regarding the existence of the documents?
Do you appreciate how reckless he was in his storage if the highly sensitive documents (including leaving them open in an insecure storage room THAT ALSO HAPPENED TO FORTUITOUSLY HAVE A LARGE-SCALECOPY MACHINE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BOXES OF DOCUMENTS?!?!

I am speculating that the answer to each of these questions is, “no.” I’m also speculating that you have no interest in reading the indictment or considering the actual facts. Instead, you’re content in dreaming of fantasies of armed civil war and accepting any excuse to justify your hope.

    1. Not suggesting this poster would do such a thing, but we've had terrorist attacks and mass shootings only for people later to question why no one took crazy rhetoric seriously.

    2. 40% of Americans believe Civil War is somewhat likely within a decade.

Two in five Americans say a civil war is at least somewhat likely in the next decade | YouGov

    3. 20% of Americans favor a national divorce.

Two Americas Index: 20% favor a "national divorce"

    4. People, including Senator Graham, have predicted riots in the streets if Trump were prosecuted. Trump is being prosecuted.

Graham predicts ‘riots in streets’ if Trump is prosecuted over classified records

Some of the rhetoric may be attempts at intimidation. Could simply be pouting. But when people are talking about war and people dying, should we just assume that people aren't serious about it?

No. You have every right to support whomever you choose. You just don’t have the right to shoot the other side because they don’t share in your belief. (And an added note, the person you choose to support doesn’t have permission or authority to disregard the rule of law because you happen to support him)

Because of the breadth of its absurdity, and we have seen what this type of trash turns into, like January 6.

We're not headed towards a civil war.

...and you wouldn't want it anyways.

When exactly was this? Because I did 7 years in a PhD program, and don't think the South came up once except to joke about how I had no idea how to handle snow.

Of course not, threats of murder, mass murder, should be taken in earnest by law enforcement. What is the US averaging a week now with mass shooting? one every 2 or 3 days.

In regards to the OP -

Nary a mention of the 37 counts of the indictment. My assumption being that trump could have carried an AK into a kindergarten, murdered 37 children (on camera) and the OP would still be shillin for Trump. It's called party and ideological indoctrination and madness.

All I can say as a progressive, is that I would not tolerate a liar and a thief like that representing the country as a Democrat. I would NOT vote for someone of such low moral character and whom is such a dispicable human being.

If the OP would BOTHER to read the indictment, Trump had all the chances in the world to return the documents to the DOJ.

But he is lazy, stupid and top of that lied and concealed. In my mind he wanted to sell those documents or use them to leverage a deal, because thats who that scumbag is.

I will say it again - Give me a SANE GOP candidate that does not want to set the society back 75 years and is willing to work for both sides and I might vote for that candidate.

    And Trump ain't it!

So you hung around with your daughter's friends, who presumably know where you and your daughter came from, and all of them just sat around and bashed where you came from?
