To bring this back to a broader perspective. What do you all think is really going to happen if Trump is actually found guilty in a sham trial? Do you really think he'll ever step foot in a jail?

Do you really think Trump supporters will ever allow that to happen? Tens of thousands of Trump supporters will surround Mar-a-lago to make sure that doesn't happen and I would support them. Is the U.S. really ready for it's own version of Tiananmen Square? Are you ready to actually support a Tiananmen Square?

    1. Donald Trump only cares about you to the extent it makes him money, puts him in power, or serves as a source of adulation.

    2. If you’re willing to “do anything to protect Trump” then I’ll be happy to see you get everything coming to you. Being hoodwinked by Trump or just generally resentful because you can’t adapt to modern times is no defense.

Well, it’s entirely based on a false premise. A federal prosecution isn’t a “sham trial.”

And if the 50 people that showed up today really want to show up again, sure, in that instance I would have no issue with arresting Laura Loomer and a handful of other crazies for impeding the performance of official duties of officers of the United States.

And what exactly do you think will be coming to me and people like me who support Trump? More political persecution? Are you going to throw at least 40% of this country in jail for supporting the opposition? What does that sound like to you?

That ain't true. But in this case, the evidence is significant, because Trump is an idiot.

Another right winger who is claiming Trump innocent without reading the indictment. And funny to think Trump is fighting for the little guy against coastal elites. Trump is the epitome of coastal elite and he would take a massive dump on all if middle America if it suited his needs. Trump used and abused middle America.

As for Biden, VPOTUS had the same security clearance as POTUS. The VP is one heartbeat away from being President, and needs to be fully briefed and ready.

There's also an investigation into the docs Biden had. Just like what happened with Pence. If it comes out Biden did half of what Trump did, he deserves to be indicted too. But not likely. Biden fully cooperated. Trump obstructed.

Today was nothing. Heck I live in Florida and I didn't bother to go down. You really think only 50 people will show up to support and protect Trump? I think you'll be very surprised.

And BTW far more than 50 people there. 40 people alone went from Central Florida just to support Trump despite probably never seeing him.

No one, including the government, gives a shit if you support Trump, much less wants to throw you in jail for it.

If you try to physically impede federal law enforcement officers because you really like someone they’re supposed to take into custody? That’s a crime, and you’d be getting arrested for committing that crime - not for “supporting Trump.”

I’ve been on the prosecution side of these types of decisions, though it should go without saying nothing nearly as high profile as indicting a former President. While the threshold to secure an indictment isn’t that high, in high-profile cases like this the prosecution internally has a much, much higher hurdle. There’s a reason Federal prosecutors have such a high conviction rate.

I think even IF he were convicted, he would be pardoned, drag it out on appeal until he dies of natural causes, or perhaps be placed on house arrest or something. If he were actually sent to prison, I would expect some bombings and other terrorist acts.

As @GatorBen said, it’s not your support of Trump that’sa problem. It’s what you’re claiming you’ll do in a misguided attempt to support Trump. It’s comedic you think prosecuting people for engaging in criminal actions is political prosecution. Here’s a hint: make a sign and protest, don’t “do whatever it takes” to keep Trump out of jail.

I spent decades in the Dept of Army in management positions requiring me to take annual training on handling classified documents - what he did is illegal and by definition a grave threat to the national security of the United States. This is not even a close call. Boxes of classified documents in the ball room stage - are you serious? If you don't realize foreign actors have accessed Maro Lago you need to get out more. This is the worst behavior by a President in the history of this country. If you want to get violent, we have jail cells awaiting.

Ah yes, the victim mentality is off the charts here.. Woe is me, eh

Trump doesn't give a damn about the OP and the fly over states unless they send him their $$$. Btw, note where Trump lives/has lived. It's not in a flyover state.

    A question I haven’t heard Trump asked:

If you had the authority, as President, to pardon those who already were arrested - or would later be identified and arrested - for their actions on January 6th, why didn’t you do so before you left office?

No one is ever going to start a civil war over a figurehead executive that is only in office for 4 years.

The only unfortunate thing about this whole situation is the partisanship divide will increase beyond what was already tenuous by both sides spilling lies for votes.

I may be wrong here but I don’t think pardons can be given until someone is actually convicted. If not mistaken the fools from Jan 6 may have been charged before Jan 20 but none were convicted. I think some weren’t even charged until after the 20th.

The GOP has lost its mind. And it’s only gonna get worse as demographics continue to change and they are further marginalized.
