That was quick. I'm sure no tampering involved. Very odd, but oh well. They are coming off their worse season of all time. Yoel Tejeda transfers from Florida to Florida State baseball; Seminoles 7th portal gain
Very sorry to see him go. Tejeda is a talented ball player and was used very sparingly this season- probably not what he signed up for. I would not be surprised if Lastres winds up there too or at UM.
Thanks for the link. I can't wish the kid good luck because I want FSU to lose every game they play in every sport!
I guess with Cags as the presumptive Friday night guy and Cade Fisher looking to be a Saturday or Sunday starter it looked like he was stuck as a midweek starter. Nothing wrong with that but some guys want to be "the guy". I get that. Our third starter might be Coppola if his TJ rehab is going well or Slater. Or maybe Slater starting early in the season and then Coppola after he gets enough work and Slater going back to being set up man extraordinaire.
If Neely gets better command of his breaking and off speed pitches over the off season he could emerge as a weekend starter.
We all want talented ball players that are eager to play for the Gators to succeed... but as I said at the start of the season after watching 4 or so scrimmages, the Gators were loaded with talent and Sully had a major challenge to give everyone the reps necessary to keep them happy. A near impossible challenge. Of the guys that are leaving Tejeda and Lastres are the most talented and the guys we may miss most. I expect Prevesk, possibly Evans and several pitchers to also depart. It's the flip side of signing top guys who want to play for the Gators but Sully can only play so many. I understand the Portal guys seeking more playing time, but regret that they've jumped ship before the ride was over. I suppose, in today's world, it's taking the offer that will be most rewarding. I don't knock any ball player who is frustrated riding the pines when they want to be beteween the lines and competing... and are convinced they have the talent to do it... that's the guy I want on my team.
^^^^ In the indelible words of Doris Day, "Que Sera, Sera. Whatever Will Be, Will Be". Now that's a strange memory out of left field for you.
Sully gave Evans every chance in the world to be the regular right fielder. Defensively he was really good, but his bat just didn't hold up under SEC pitching. It's on him if he couldn't hold down the job that was given to him. Can't blame Prevesk for leaving either. He didn't get the opportunity that Evans did, but you've got to earn the starting job, right? Best wishes to them if they leave, but oh well. Same with the pitchers who decide to go. O'Sullivan used them all in the pre-SEC schedule and some earned more chances, other didn't. Move on to the next guy.
Didn’t mean to parrot what you said, jdgator. Must have posted that while I was typing. I simply didn’t see your post.
And there is always the possibility that Sully brings in someone who is transferring for the opposite reason (wants to be in a bigger pond), like Waldrep.
