Walks, obviously, don't count as official at bats. I'm sure Matherly87's at bats are those deemed official.

At Bats do not equal Plate appearances.

His PA is 4, his "official" at bats is 2" because a walk is not an "at bat". So he went to the plate 4 times, was walked 2 x, leaving 2 at bats and got 1 hit. His on base % was then 1 hit + 2 walks in 4 PAs or .750.

It would seem to me right now that Waldrep is our better pitcher and can throw more off speed pitches than Sproat. That first game is crucial and if Virginia is a fast ball hitting team I'd go with Waldrep.

It’s like the NCAA basketball tournament, no reseeding. In fact the bracket visually ends up being very similar

Regionals for baseball is similar to the first weekend in basketball. Four teams, one advances.

The super regionals are like the sweet 16

Elite 8 and onward is the CWS

Oddsmakers have Virginia favored over us. Not by much, but still.

We’ve never done well as the favorite in Omaha (see 1998, 2012, 2016, 2018).

I would rather they think we will go 2-and-Q.

The first game is always critical but especially here

Sproat can throw offspeed first pitches for strikes but he often likes to set that up with a first inning of 98+ mph heat with movement. But UVa is a very good fastball hitting team so he might change his MO and pitch it backwards: starting off with off speed early and pounding them the second time around.

And by "he" I mean Sully calling the pitches.

Sproat just has to locate the fastball better. He wants to get ahead and has a propensity thinking they will take a strike so he throws the fastball belt high down the middle. Just locate it better and he will be fine.

Sproat can throw a 98+ mph two seamer and that is hard to locate. Just how much run and sink it will have is hard to control. I really don't think he is just throwing a four seamer down Broadway.
