You have my intent wrong. I posted this to discuss that outside the Florida Bubble, DeSantis’ Hate War is not playing well to a mass of potential voters. At this point, ON THIS BOARD, the posters have formed pretty hard opinions on whether they approve or disapprove of DeSantis’ Hate War. I have no illusion that I might sway someone’s opinion on this perhaps over-indulged topic. But, again, since we are in the early stages of a national general election, and many on here routinely point to the 2022 gubernatorial rout as evidence that DeSantis is universally beloved, I’m pointing out that there are masses outside this State who abhor his positions.

I agree with you on many points. The political party system is crushing our soul. I’ve said it in these boards countless times, the Party system has converted our politicians to swear allegiance first to Party over Country. That is the biggest problem.

Where is this "Hate War" is not playing well to a mass of potential voters data coming from? Here is the latest NC Polling data. This doesn't jive with what you are saying.

DeSantis answered to Trump when it was convenient to do so. It’s no longer convenient so now he is pandering Trumpian voters to win them over.

You can say that about anything any politician does.

New Marquette Law School Poll national survey finds Trump and DeSantis leading Biden in head-to-head matches, DeSantis losing ground to Trump in primary, majorities having unfavorable views of all three // News Center // Marquette University

A new Marquette Law School Poll national survey finds that, as the race for president in 2024 now stands, Democratic President Joe Biden trails Republican former President Donald Trump by 5 percentage points among registered voters, with 52% for Trump and 47% for Biden. Biden also trails Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis by 4 percentage points, with 52% for DeSantis and 48% for Biden.

I left the right a while back because of this. DeSantis has made some huge missteps in the past 6 months or so. The abortion issue went way too far for my liking and think that will ultimately doom him. He is a vastly better candidate than the idiot trump though. At this point I would support Haley over any other candidate but I know she won't get the nomination. IF there was a centrist Dem candidate I would consider that person in the General Election. But my guess is I vote 3rd party for the 3rd straight election.

First, how about you? I might be getting you confused with another poster, and if so I apologize, but you (or the other) even admitted that you think DeSantis has gone too far.
Second, there have been a legion of recent articles and polls in the sundry of DeSantis threads stating exactly what I said — DeSantis extremist antics are catching up to him and the common voter does not approve.

I said above he's gone too far in my opinion. But i'm also about as close to center as anyone on this board. I've voted probably 60/40 R to D in the last election. I think those on the right like him and IF I was forced to choose between trump or desantis, it would be desantis all day. Common voters aren't happy with Biden, so IF it's desantis I think he would have a very good chance to win the general election. trump would lose again and blame everything and everyone that it was rigged/cheated or any other BS claim.

We disagree on DeSantis, because I believe he is more dangerous than Trump. I have watched with my own eyes how he follows through to the letter with his extreme rhetoric. Trump, for all of his bombastic rhetoric, didn’t follow through in many of his “talking points.” I just wish it wasn’t a Trump v DeSantis matchup on the Right.

Disagree on trump/desantis. Desantis definitely in my opinion is a much better candidate/person to lead our country than trump. Not a debate in my mind. IF Desantis moved back to the middle on abortion and some other issues I would consider voting for him. I under no circumstances will ever vote for trump.

Love Udonis Haslem and what he accomplished at UF but the last thing I could care about is his opinion on Ron DeSantis, or any other political figure for that matter.

I do not. If others don’t read for themselves what the issues are and rely on media portrayals of the state’s position for their info, then I do not care what they think.

I’ll bet you get your information from your media’s portrayal of DeSantis. As for me, I think I’m fairly well read, and I try to collect news from multiple sources.

Suffice it to say, We have a completely different view of what DeSantis has done and is doing.

And did you read the legislative history, debates, the resulting confusion and chaos from ambiguous legislation that exists to this day, the public speeches giving rise to the various legislative initiatives— both before and after enactment? Or, do you read the laws on a vacuum with no context?
