If there is ANY position we can whiff on this year, it is RB. I want a couple studs every year, but we have a glut of riches at the moment and the future is bright.

This was one of Mullens weaknesses in recruiting too.

Based on the GNFP interview it sounds like Billy doesn’t push or let kids commit until they check off a bunch of wickets. Sounds like they only want kids to commit when they are ready. All Gator pundits made it sound like June was going to be huge in recruiting. Hopefully it’s still true but it doesn’t feel like it is trending that way.

I mean we have our star RB's for the next 2 seasons anyway, what losing Bowens effects is 2-3 years from now. And like you just stated if CBN is gonna be successful there are far more positions that need attention more than RB of which is a position we've seen freshman come in and be productive so getting a good one this year or next can help replace Bowens. Get me 2 good TE's this year, some good OLinemen Etienne is only gonna be a sophomore and Johnson a junior and Webb a true freshman and nobody was gonna unseat Johnson and Etienne as our star Duo. We just added a big 215lb RB in Jakobi Jackson for the 23 year with immediate availability and have Kahnen Daniel's for this class.

There’s 2 positions that I see every year that kids similarly ranked and you can find many high quality prospects that RB and WR BN needs to reel in top OL and DL you win in the trenches you usually win

Only if one's expectations are a little exaggerated. UF isn't competing with UGA or Bama anytime soon. While we all would love to see the dominance of years past, it's not gonna happen IMO. Can UF be great under BN, sure. Will they compete at the elite level like Bama, UGA etc. I don't think so. I don't think UF is set up that way. The worst thing to happen to UF was Saban and Smart. I don't think Texas and OU coming to the league help either. Too many chefs in the kitchen if you get my meaning. Best thing to happen for UF is a 12 team playoff. That's just my silly opinion.

Last year sucked, this year might suck as well. I like BN, I see some positives and I see some question marks. I'm just not going to get too hot and bothered by a couple L's in recruiting. It's gonna happen. I just want so see steady improvement.

I remember reading interviews with people who worked with Billy when he was hired here and the recurring comment was "He's going to bring Bama's infrastructure and culture like Clemson's".

Clemson's recruiting tactic has their recruits not commit unless they're sure and then shut it down and it has led to their recruits being "sticky". They have developed their recruits that buy in, and top off their classes with a handful of high-level playmakers. Granted, it's easier to take that approach in the ACC with their competition so we'll see, but I hope that's the end-result the staff is shooting for here.

It appears that the newer recruiting relationships that they have established are starting to pay off from the volume of highly talented recruits we're seeing on campus over previous years but we simply aren't going to know for sure until signing day.

I agree, but think it’s a bit of a reach to predict we will never again compete head-to-head with UGa and Bama. Billy figured out how to win a championship at one level, there’s no reason to think he can’t at UF.

The most talented roster doesn’t always win. All you gotta do is be close, and pick them and coach them up to not do stupid shit that loses games, and to play for each other as a team

History doesn't really support that. UF's problem is the two most talented teams are in the same league. I don't think it's a BN problem per se. I don't think Saban or Kirby could have won as many if they coached at UF. Just my opinion.

Yeah I think that is a pretty accurate summary of what the tactic appears to be. Honestly the only issue I see with it is that Clemson plays in the ACC where they can land a class anywhere from 1-20 and still be in the top end of talent in their league. When we do it we are somewhere around 6-8 in our league. The #15 class at Clemson can win the league if the top of the class is talented enough but for us it probably means we will go 9-3/8-4 each year. I am 99% happy with the things CBN is doing and think he will build a very solid program if given the chance.
